@DeborahMeaden Could I ask which option is preferable?
1 People who don't need it (like you) get it.
2. It becomes means-tested & some who desperately need it don't get it.
I realise you are suggesting a threshold but maybe not this. But a bespoke system creates overheads & is not on the table
@brawday Again, I don't usually comment on this, but given 80% of the replies are along the "once in a generation" mould or similar, here's some points I jotted down earlier. I realise there's more to it, but these same arguments (& I use that term very loosely) need a review.
@Dougmcg1 I don't usually get involved in these threads as it's rarely a discussion likely to change opinions. But given the replies include the tired "once in a generation" & "a yes vote was a vote to leave the EU anyway" I thought I'd write this in hope of a better discourse...
@Herring1967 Haven't bothered to read the text, but it's awesome of you to help this poor vagrant get cleaned up & ready for his job interview (those are the before & after pictures right?)
@M_J_B_74 @MarinaPurkiss Maybe the staff in the previous hospitals passed didn't speak a language you understood or you have family members at the final hospital to be with and support you at your lowest point. Maybe that's a reason for making that personal and perfectly reasonable and legal choice.
@Geordiebloke42@MarinaPurkiss Imagine a police box that can travel through time and space. I've seen one of those on the TV, doesn't mean it happens for real.
@discoboy1701 @lesleys20 I didn't respond to answer questions. Just to highlight that asylum seekers are people. You added a 5 year criteria. What if the homeless person previously beat their child? Are they more worthy than someone fleeing persecution? We can all add what ifs. It's not a binary argument
@discoboy1701 @lesleys20 You're adding criteria to suit your agenda. The tweet you responded to was highlighting money being wasted on pageantry whilst children starved. You took the opportunity to make an issue of asylum seekers versus people. I'm merely pointing out that asylum seekers are people.

Heat link (2nd in 3 years) broke on Tue. Spent half of Wed with @madebygoogle before booking an Engineer for Friday. Waited in all day, no show! "Support" keep saying someone will get in touch. Been freezing for 6 days & the coms have been non existent. #awfulservice
Can't believe Andy Murray is still doing this.
If he can manage anything in the 3rd round I'd be amazed, but that was truly unbelievable.
#AndyMurray#amazing
@BayeDrew But an inability to perform the movements shows mechanical weakness or restriction. So they are highly useful in assessing movement and imbalances.
Whether you utilise them in your training or not or not, being capable of performing them is important (ie choice not limitation)
@ccfmjcope@Scotsmistt@Germans4indyref Again, rather than arguing FOR something, the argument is to to shut down options.
I tried, but Twitter is clearly not the forum for positive discussion.
@ccfmjcope@Scotsmistt@Germans4indyref Again irrelevant.
This isn't about ME.
People did feel lied to, particularly about the EU. And even more so people feel lied to re Brexit.
But arguing by shutting down options causes division. Arguing for the benefits causes enlightenment & a move to a resolution.
@ccfmjcope@Scotsmistt@Germans4indyref 2/2 unionist now seem to only argue
- SNP bad! (irrelevant)
- You had your vote (not true of over 500k)
- it was once in a generation (true til that point, but not a "promise" it was a fact)
Argue for the union if you want to mend divisions, not against options to be heard.
@ccfmjcope@Scotsmistt@Germans4indyref Irrelevant (wasn't talking about me).
I don't care how people vote and I have changed my views over time (based on the arguments for and against).
But people aren't debating the pros & cons. 1/2
@ccfmjcope@Scotsmistt@Germans4indyref People who feel they were lied to by the no campaign & over Brexit & have no viable option to vote in WM are being told their views are irrelevant.
And that's not divisive?
A vote ends that as there's likely no chance of another Brexit level change in circumstances for a while
