@nickisanders When something new comes along there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation about it and it’s easy to pretend to be an expert. Eventually the BS’ers and bad faith actors get sorted out.
“Why do cities have so much pollen??”
Well, idk how to put this delicately, but city trees are predominantly male. Males are lower maintenance than females, and 20th-century urban foresters didn’t want female trees producing messy cleanups for sidewalks and streets littered with cones, fluff, hulls, and fruit. So they planted clone males of certain species. With fewer females around to catch any of it, a much bigger share ends up sprayed at your face instead.
