A new community support initiative in Swaida, backed by Druze Global (DGPAC) as part of its commitment to strengthening community resilience and empowering civil society, held its first psychological support session this past Sunday, bringing together women from different age groups.
These sessions help individuals cope with trauma and PTSD in the aftermath of the July 2025 attempted extermination campaign targeting Druze and Christian communities in Swaida.

Burning wheat in Swaida: targeting both land and people
DGPAC expresses its growing concern over the increasing pressure on Swaida, following actions by individuals affiliated with the interim government who allegedly set fire to wheat fields and deprived farmers of their harvest.
The organization stresses that the protection of civilians and their property, including agricultural land and crops, constitutes a fundamental obligation under international law.

UN Commission Report: Sexual Violence and Abductions in Swaida
The new report by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria revealed horrific gender-based dimensions of the July 2025 violence in Swaida where investigators documented government forces and allied tribal fighters committing grave violations including sexual violence rape abduction and assaults on personal dignity These acts directly targeted women and girls including documented rape cases of a Minor girl in Swaida city in her mother’s presence and another woman in Sura al-Kabira in front of her child The report also recorded the abduction of 15 women and girls including 11 Druze women some of whom were used as hostages or bargaining chips to secure the release of detainees Violations also included cases of forced nudity and humiliating physical searches during house raids and property looting The report noted that social stigma linked to concepts of honor and shame poses a major barrier to documenting the full scale of these crimes as many survivors hesitate to speak out requiring international action to ensure accountability and achieve justice for the victims

We extend our gratitude to Mr. #Odai_Abo_Assaf, representing DGPAC, for his success in bringing the "Druze File" into the spotlight of international decision-making during the briefing organized and hosted by Western Syria Development.
Mr. Abu Assaf exposed the nature of the current ruling structure:
• He identified it as an extension of extremist networks, including individuals with backgrounds tied to groups such as Al-Qaeda.
• He highlighted the systematic "jihadi" indoctrination of children within schools to prepare them for a future shaped by extremism.
Documentation of systematic "ethnic cleansing" in Swaida:
• The region has faced a suffocating siege by militias since July of last year.
• At least 35 majority Druze villages saw nearly every home and business looted and deliberately burned.
• The destruction targeted Druze religious sites (Majlis and Maqams) and at least four Christian churches.
• These atrocities have led to the forced displacement of over 90,000 Druze individuals.
He presented a set of key demands:
1. Formal recognition by Congress of the massacres in the coast and Swaida as ethnic cleansing.
2. Recognition of the right to self-determination for the people of Swaida.
3. Establishment of a protected international humanitarian corridor to deliver aid and evacuate the wounded.
4. The return of occupied villages to their owners and the release of all abducted and detained individuals held by the government and its proxies.

Escalation in Swaida Region
The Damascus regime has launched a wave of coordinated criminal assaults, proving their total disregard for civilian life. From yesterday through this morning, our communities faced a barrage of drones, missiles, and abductions.
The Toll of the Attacks:
7 Martyrs: Including three in Najran and four in the Baka-Burd region.
19 Kidnappings: Including 12 civilians seized at the Al-Mutuna checkpoint.
4 Injuries: Resulting from drone strikes and Grad missiles that leveled a family home.
Druze Global expresses our unwavering solidarity with the families of the martyred and the disappeared, we demand justice and protection from the interim government and the extremist groups operating under its watch.

Authorities in Latakia have prohibited a Mother's Day event organized by the Christian community, set for March 14, which aimed to honor elderly women in a closed church hall. Initially, the event was postponed due to Ramadan, but after rescheduling it for after iftar, officials declared all celebrations banned during this holy month. This move reflects an alarming enforcement of restrictions reminiscent of al-Qaeda, curtailing non-fasting activities even within Christian churches.

Druze Global Public Affairs Council (DGPAC) rejects the deception campaign promoted by the Interim Syrian government and its so-called “Public Security” authorities regarding Hamza al-Ammarin.
The official narrative claims he was on a humanitarian mission affiliated with the White Helmets. However, circulating video evidence shows him carrying a weapon and praising rocket and artillery fire — conduct that directly contradicts the principles of humanitarian neutrality.
Humanitarian work cannot coexist with armed activity, nor can it be used as a cover for violence.
We call on media outlets to review the available evidence before amplifying one-sided official narratives.

A prisoner exchange deal was carried out today between the Transitional Government in Damascus and the Swaida National Guard.
Under the agreement, authorities in Damascus released 61 civilian hostages who were abducted from their homes and detained during the July invasion of Swaida. They had been held in Adra Prison since their capture. In exchange, the "National Guard" in Swaida released 30 personnel from the extremist groups who had participated in the military operations against the province.
The handover process took place under the direct supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which acted as a neutral party to ensure the smooth execution of the deal. This operation is the result of months of intensive negotiations supported by prominent U.S. mediation. It marks a significant step toward de-escalating tensions in a province that witnessed bloody events in the summer of 2025.

ISIS is resurging in eastern Syria — and this is not happening in a vacuum.
The responsibility lies squarely with the interim Syrian authorities whose governance failures, internal divisions, and dangerous strategic choices have created the conditions for extremist networks to regroup.
Rather than prioritizing the containment of ISIS remnants, the interim administration chose to divert resources and attention toward confrontations with Kurdish forces — the very forces that bore the brunt of the fight against ISIS. That miscalculation weakened the security architecture that had been containing thousands of radicalized detainees and disrupted the fragile stability in the region.
Even more troubling are credible concerns about extremist elements operating within the broader governing structure itself. When leadership lacks coherence, accountability, and institutional discipline, security vacuums form. ISIS thrives in those vacuums.
The release, escape, or poor management of high-risk detainees is not just a logistical failure — it is a strategic one. Security institutions cannot combat extremism while simultaneously undermining the very forces that contained it.
The result is predictable: ISIS is attempting to reconstitute operational cells and reassert influence.
This is not merely a counterterrorism setback. It is evidence that the current interim governing structure lacks the institutional capacity and strategic clarity necessary to prevent extremist resurgence.
Stability requires disciplined governance, unified command, and zero tolerance for extremist infiltration. Without those elements, the threat will continue to grow.

At DGPAC, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Congressman Marlin Stutzman @RepStutzman for sponsoring the Congressional briefing and standing firmly with our community.
His leadership and commitment to elevating the Druze voice in the United States Capitol mean more than words can express to the people of Swaida and to Druze communities across the diaspora.
We are equally grateful to the Members of Congress who have supported our efforts thus far. Your courage, attention, and moral clarity give hope to families who have endured unimaginable hardship and remind us that truth and justice continue to have champions.

Since November, the Druze Global (DGPAC) has worked alongside Druze Nexus and the Tim Ballard Foundation to organize a Congressional briefing held last Wednesday in the U.S. Capitol Auditorium, hosted by Congressman Marlin Stutzman.
The briefing could not have come at a more important time, following the House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing that shed light on the deception and abuses linked to the interim Syrian authorities and those promoting their narrative in the United States.
The briefing convened congressional offices, including Member-level participation and professional staff, together with policy professionals, academics, NGOs, faith leaders, community representatives, and experts in Middle East policy and human rights violations monitoring. From the heart of the Capitol, the recorded statement of Sheikh Tarif was presented so that his message could reach lawmakers directly.
The purpose of the briefing was simple: to ensure the voice of the Druze people is heard at the highest levels of government.
During the session, representatives of DGPAC and Druze Nexus outlined core humanitarian and security demands:
• The right of the people of Swaida to self-determination
• The immediate return of kidnapped civilians
• The return of occupied Druze villages
• The opening of a humanitarian corridor
• Formal recognition by the U.S. Congress that what occurred in Swaida in July 2025 constitutes ethnic cleansing
The following day Thursday, we used the momentum for an advocacy day on Capitol Hill. Teams from Druze Global and Druze Nexus met with multiple congressional offices and made contact with many new members to raise awareness and begin building long-term relationships.
Advocacy is a long journey. We want our community to understand that we are doing our part, alongside many others, and that progress takes persistence. Our cause is just, our people are energized, and justice will come, but it requires patience and sustained effort. Every meeting we attend and every event we host is another brick in building safety and protection for our people.
We extend special thanks to the many team members who worked tirelessly, day and night, to make this briefing a success.
We are sincerely grateful to Congressman Stutzman and his wonderful team, and to the Tim Ballard Foundation for their unwavering commitment and support. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the sponsors and contributors who stood behind this effort, especially Black Basalt (https://t.co/6cIpDIIguW) for their remarkable generosity and partnership.
Finally, thank you to everyone who took time from their schedules to attend and stand in support of this cause. Your presence truly matters

The conference featured a recorded address by His Eminence, Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, representing the Druze community, in which he stressed the urgent need to protect civilians and safeguard the dignity of the Druze people. He called for accountability for the violations committed against Druze in Swaida and urged responsible action to ensure security and stability.
Sheikh Tarif also called on the U.S. Congress to officially recognize the atrocities in Swaida as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and an attempted genocide targeting a minority on ethnic and religious grounds. He also urged international intervention based on international law.
He demanded the opening of an international humanitarian corridor, the release of detainees, and clarification of the fate of the forcibly disappeared in Syrian regime prisons.
Affirming the right to self-determination under international law, he emphasized that the Druze seek not sympathy, but justice; not conflict, but protection; and their right to live in freedom and dignity.
He concluded by thanking all those who supported the protection of the Druze community and contributed to the success of the conference in the United States.

TimBallard @DruzeNexus
