If you're not aware, the Stargate Atlantis: Legacy series by Fandemonium was as an official tie-in novel series that serves as a continuation of the Stargate Atlantis, after the television show ended.

"Science fiction is an existential metaphor. It allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said:
Individual science fiction stories may seem
as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and
philosophers of today, but the core of science-
fiction, its essence, has become crucial to our
salvation, if we are to be saved at all."
-- Anders quoting Asimov, Stargate SG-1, S10E06 "200"
This is Stargate. Only the original showrunners understand that this is what Stargate has always meant to us. They need time to hand the baton off to the new generation of writers and up-and-coming showrunners to continue the Stargate legacy.
Hiring someone who has no idea what Stargate is will only manage to add it to the growing banality of "science fiction" television that is being produced. We simply have no desire to watch something dumbed down. We are an intelligent audience that understands nuance and we deserve something that treats us as such.
You wouldn't write sequels to beloved books passed down throughout the generations without the original author involved in mentoring the next generation to continue the legacy. Anything else is fan fiction.

Doom and Age of Empires creator Sandy Petersen blasts Amazon over their handling of Stargate:
"1) get handed a massively popular IP that spans 17 years of successful shows."
"2) realize it has millions of loyal fans, desperate for more. They are now in their 40s and 50s, flush with money. Eager to teach their kids & grandkids about Stargate."
"3) you could start with this. You are already three steps up the ladder to huge success. The fans will evangelize it, if you don't wreck the IP. Don't believe it? Look how the fans evangelized Battlestar Galactica after its 30 year hiatus. And the initial Dr Who reboot after 15 years."
"4) cancel the project because you want a "new take" that will eliminate all the loyal fans and turn them into bitter enemies."
"It's like an ancient Greek play about hubris."
Why are corporate execs like this?
@WhiteGirl1776 It's really sad. I would've love to visit Paris whether if it was 1880 or 1980. But that's all gone now. And I would still love to visit Tokyo, today!
@catturd2 I can't believe I'm saying this, as an admirer of French history and culture, I just don't like current France anymore. It's already a safe haven for these barbaric invaders thinking they own the place. This should serve as a HUGE cautionary tale for the Japanese.
@daily_romania I think the 1204 one was where it was more worse. All the events leading up to the sack was a complete dumpster fire ever since the death of Manuel I Komnenos in 1180.
@BitPaine Although I would love it if they casted Yul Brynner since he had actual Mongolian heritage, it would've been slightly better. But the movie sadly still got a lot of the history wrong.
Tom Kane has sadly passed away at the age of 64.
He was the iconic narrator of ‘The Clone Wars’ series as well as the voice of Yoda & Admiral Yularen. He also voiced Professor Utonium in ‘The Powerpuff Girls’.
