@dharag96 Depends on permission for what. At roughly 15-16 I started not asking for minor decisions. the process completed within, may be, 4 years. When I left the country for studies I was fully my own. Overall, I think the ages were bit higher then they were in the West.

@sanjiva No. There are relatively rare cases on the line where sex determination is not possible at birth and the wrong sex is assigned. (I know at least one such case. It is somewhat public, but don't want to discuss here because of privacy reasons.)
