In the high-pressure world of trauma surgery, burnout isn't just an individual struggle—it’s a collective one. 
While presenting today at #ASOUCONF Dr. Jennifer Rickard , Associate Professor of Surgery and Trauma Surgeon at the University of Minnesota, explains that staying "healthy and happy" in medicine requires a focus on both self-care and caring for those around us.
She emphasized that protecting well-being goes beyond individual effort; it involves a multifaceted approach that balances personal health with family life.
Dr. Rickard urged us to look out for our peers, recognizing early signs of distress to offer support before it escalates.

Session 3 is officially underway at #ASOUCONF2026! We are honored to host Dr. Denis Mazingi @DMazingi from Zimbabwe, who delivered a masterclass on navigating charity partnerships and resource allocation to achieve Surgical Equity.
Dr. Mazingi traced the evolution of Global Surgery, challenging us to move toward Generation 5: Justice.
