Payal Mehta Ji was a hardworking journalist who remained firmly connected to the ground, bringing a deep understanding of national issues to her reporting.

Beyond her work, she will be remembered for the kindness and warmth with which she touched so many lives. Her sudden and untimely passing is extremely saddening.

My condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. May they find strength in this difficult hour. Om Shanti.

Moral Of The Story :

Authored by senior journalist Shri Prakash Chandra Sharma and published in an English daily, the article underscores the vital role of media professionals—particularly Indian Information Service (IIS) officers—in shaping public perception and combating misinformation. It critiques the current practice of recruiting officers without media expertise at higher level and calls for reforms to transform the IIS into a specialized media corps. The piece urges the government to prioritize storytelling, fact-checking, and strategic communication as key tools in narrative warfare, essential for strengthening India’s position both domestically and globally.
