I saw a post that went viral on this space last weak about "CHEAP COWS" and it broke my heart.

As a MEAT PROCESSOR based in Ibadan, that post was a stinger and a GROSS MISREPRESENTATION of everything RIGHT, NOBLE and JUST.

THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "CHEAP" and "AFFORDABLE"

I made up my mind earlier not to comment on it but, I have had some customers share the link of that post with me to ask if that's not what we do at our PROTEIN HUB in ROYAL LINE FOODS LIMITED.

NIGERIANS on X, I'd like to share a little about myself with you.

I started ROYAL LINE FOODS from a PAIN POINT. At 22, I had a health challenge. I couldn't place a finger on what went wrong. I searched to know the source and couldn't pin point too. So, I decided to make my food MY MEDICINE.

I started eating HEALTHY, AFFORDABLE and NATURAL foods as much as I could. Creating my own food, snacks and drinks from scratch. I baked my own bread and did everything possible to cut out CHEMICALS and ARTIFICIAL FOOD ADDITIVES from my diet.

When finances became a big issue for me, I decided to sell what I produced myself.

We have over the years sold CLEAN LABEL BREAD, DOUGHNUTS, TIGER NUT DRINK, FRUITY ZOBO, FIBER RICH PAP, GROW and GLOW (A Multiple use Baby Cereal range to transition Babies from Breast Milk to solids)

Our PROTEIN HUB was an idea birthed when we needed funds to Grow, Scale and Certify our TIGER NUT DRINK with NAFDAC and get a SOLAR SET UP.

BY GOD'S own GRACE, GOAL ACHIEVED!

Seeing how this has helped us Over the past few months, we have been building some structure around the PROTEIN HUB to ensure we serve a larger customer base.

PiggyVest Report: Only 1 in 10 Nigerians can comfortably raise ₦156k in 1 week.

- 56% more people want to japa, but savings for Japa have completely dropped, almost non existent.

- Minimum wage is ₦70k but a pot of jollof rice costs 624% than it did 10yrs ago, that’s 42% of the MW.

- Savings collapsed from 8/10 people to 5/10 people, as Nigerians stopped saving simply because they don’t earn enough.

- 58% of adults earn below ₦100k/month or nothing at all. Yet they are earning more now but affording less. Because in 2023 minimum wage was ₦30k and worth $65, now in 2026 it is ₦70k and worth $53, less value.

- In America less 10% of household earning is spent on food. In Nigeria, ₦6 of every ₦10 earned is spent on food (60%) as inflation rises monthly. 60% is the highest of any country the US Department of Agriculture tracks.

- While many Nigerians want to Japa. Many have opted to start life here, not because its easier, but with optimism for the future.

- 63% about 140M Nigerians are living in poverty. 6 in 10 Nigerian do not have emergency funds.

- However, people paying Black Tax has dropped by 80%, though more than half of Nigerian earners support extended families.

- Only 6% of Nigerians feel financially secure. Not because they earn a lot, but because they save a fixed amount monthly.

- Nigeria is experiencing two economic realities at once; on paper the economy is good, which is true. In reality, households feel poorer.

I cried so much last night and this morning. I have seen lots of messages from different people about things I did for them at different times most of which I don’t even remember.
The truth is I have always believed in my heart that the only reason God has given to me is to give it back.
I think this is God’s way of telling me to also be thankful!!! I have been thinking too much about what I lost instead of thanking God for seeing me through one of the hardest moments of my life.
I am used to always giving and hardly ever receiving because everyone thought I had in abundance. I have also always found it difficult to ask for help. Even if I had to borrow from anyone, I would always return with interest, even without them asking. But I was tested in ways I couldn’t understand these past few years. I asked for help everywhere and anywhere I could think of and I was on the verge of giving it all up!

I would mention his name but he would be really upset. God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again! I don’t think any sane person would do what he did for me without God’s intervention!
So this is me also saying thank you Brother! And I will continue to do so again and again, privately and publicly! Thank you for giving me hope when I thought it was all over. I can’t help but think I have taken your love and kindness for granted but I want you to know that I am forever indebted to you.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 to get into 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 as a 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝 (Technology Role)

I spoke with my friend a Nigerian who secured a Goldman Sachs Technology undergraduate Summer Internship and retained after his graduate in Unilag, and he broke down the process for me.

If you’re applying, this is the roadmap:

1. CV Screening

Have 1 or 2 strong projects on your CV. Not 10 random projects.

Build something you can actually defend and explain deeply.

Keep the CV clean. You can check the score of the cv on sites like https://t.co/PJYaiUxQMj. There is no need to fluff.

2. Coding Assessment

This is where things get serious.

Expect a HackerRank style assessment focused on algorithms and data structures.

His recommendation?

NeetCode 150 + LeetCode.

If you can, get LeetCode Premium and practise Goldman Sachs tagged questions.

Focus heavily on arrays, strings, hashmaps, linked lists and the other core DSA topics.

You could get around 2 questions in 90 minutes.

Try to solve at least one completely. (. Go to https://t.co/uZwEHzhuhn (try to do the 150 problems practice sheet). Go to leetcode as well, get a premium if possible, and solve the company's tag problems (as many as you can). Prioritize Hashmaps, strings, arrays, linkedlist, and then others.)

3. HireVue

If you pass the coding round, you may get a recorded video interview.

This is largely behavioural.

“Tell me about a time…”

“How would you handle…”

“Why Goldman Sachs?”

YouTube is your friend. Search “Goldman Sachs HireVue” and practise.

And please don’t panic.

If you need time to think, take a breath and say:

“Give me 30 seconds to think about that.”

Then answer.

4. SuperDay

You’ve made it this far. Now the real conversations begin.

Expect multiple interviews covering:

DSA

Your projects

Behavioural questions

For DSA, know your Big O and time/space complexity. Explain your thinking clearly. Even if you don’t know the optimal solution, start with what you know and communicate your thought process.

For projects, KNOW YOUR PROJECTS.

Don’t exaggerate. Don’t lie.

Be able to explain what you built, why you built it, your contribution and the challenges you faced.

For behavioural, prepare for questions like:

Why Goldman Sachs?

What is your biggest challenge?

Tell me about a weakness.

Tell me about a time you failed.

His preparation checklist:

→ DSA in one programming language
→ Around 150 LeetCode problems, especially Mediums
→ 2 strong projects you can defend deeply
→ OOP, Big O, databases and CS fundamentals
→ Mock interviews with ChatGPT or Claude

And his final advice?

Prepare like your life depends on it.

Then pray.

Because after all the preparation…

I'm writing these lengthy post for the Graduate Trainees that were deployed to retail banking. You will need this about building a big internal referral system.

I benefited a lot from internal referrals as a retail banker and I believe you'll need this. I have carefully written how you can benefit from different business segments, with real life examples.

For Personal Banking RMs, you need to know how to build a referral network.

You need to know the people handling other business segments in the Bank: Commercial, Corporate, SME, Credit, Digital Banking, Treasury, and even Branch Operations.

When you discover something outside your mandate, you should know exactly who to call.

And make sure you refer opportunities back to yourself where appropriate.

When SME RM meets a business owner whose wife earns ₦2M monthly. That is a Personal Banking lead. They'll refer to the Personal Banking RM.

A Corporate RM meets a company executive who needs a personal mortgage. That is your lead.

A Commercial RM is onboarding a business owner who tells them he wants to invest ₦20M of his personal savings. That is your lead.

A Credit Officer is reviewing a customer's loan application and discovers that the customer's children are studying abroad and the family regularly makes large international payments. There could be a personal banking opportunity there.

A Digital Banking colleague notices that a customer is maintaining significant balances but is barely using the bank's investment, card, or wealth products. That is an opportunity for Personal Banking.

A Relationship Manager is discussing a business loan with a director who says, "I am also looking for a good place to keep my personal money." That's another personal banking lead.

A Corporate RM meets a newly appointed Managing Director of an IT company who needs salary structuring, a premium account, cards, investment products and possibly a mortgage. That is a Personal Banking lead.

A branch operations officer notices that a high-value customer comes into the branch regularly to move large personal funds. Instead of simply processing the transaction, they can connect the customer to the Personal Banking RM.

Even your credit colleagues can become a source of leads.
They may know who is borrowing, who is investing, who is expanding, who has recently acquired property, who has substantial cash flow and who is likely to need personal financial products.

You should know the people sitting around other business segments who have access to customer information and relationships that you may never encounter directly.

The best part of this is that this works both ways.

If you send a business opportunity to an SME RM, a corporate opportunity to Corporate Banking, or a transaction opportunity to Treasury, they are more likely to remember you when they encounter a Personal Banking opportunity.

You are essentially building an internal referral marketplace.

Don't just ask your colleagues, "Please send me customers." This won't work.

Make it reciprocal.

"Anything personal you come across, send it to me. If I come across anything that fits your segment, I'll send it to you."

That is how you turn the entire Bank into a source of business.

You can make this your strength and you'll shine if you become good at it.

And it's not like this stuff is hard to sell normally. Arsenal, City, United, Liverpool, they've all got someone's name across the chest pulling in what, £40, £50, £60 million a year? Locked in for years.

It's basically free money. The shirt's already made, somebody just pays to slap their logo on it and you cash the cheque. Chelsea just... can't. Four seasons running they'll walk out there with nothing on the front but the badge.

The bit that actually gets me though, they're the world champions. Won the whole thing. Wear the little badge for it and everything. Biggest prize in club football sitting on a shirt nobody wants their name on. You can't make it up.

So how does that even happen? Richest league in the world, one of its biggest clubs, and they can't shift the one piece of advertising that sells itself.

Honestly I think they just got greedy. Or too proud, however you want to put it.

After they won the Club World Cup they went round telling everyone the shirt was worth £60 million plus. The champions premium, plus all that Champions League money that was meant to be coming in.

So they waited for their number. Kept saying no. I read somewhere that a hydration company got fed up waiting and went and sponsored Newcastle instead.

And then the season fell apart. No European football at all next year, no Champions League, nothing. So that whole "we're worth more because of the prestige" thing they'd built the price around? Gone. Just like that.

They've dropped the ask to about £45 million now, apparently. Still nothing.
