As a senior in high school, I am watching, the futures of thousands of my peers being traded away.
For years, students have relied on OSAP grants to access the quality education we were promised. We are the generation that will be entering university under Doug Ford’s new rules, which slash non-repayable grants and replace them with a mountain of debt. To call these changes "sustainable" is a slap in the face to every student who is already struggling with the cost of living.
To Premier Doug Ford:
You might think we aren’t paying attention because we aren’t in university yet. You are wrong. We are the next generation of voters. We see this "basket-weaving" rhetoric for what it is, a justification for making education a privilege for the few rather than a right for the many. When the next election comes, we will remember who stood with students and who left us behind. We will come out in record numbers to support a party that is actually on Ontario’s side. @OntLiberal has been fighting to save OSAP and protect our futures, and it’s time we joined that fight.

The Reality of the "New" OSAP:
• Grant Slashing: Grants are being capped at just 25%, down from 85%.
• Debt Explosion: Students will now be forced to take on 75% of their aid as loans, adding thousands of dollars in debt before we even start our careers.
• Tuition Hikes: The 7-year tuition freeze has ended, meaning we pay more for the same education while receiving less help to pay for it.
