Warmest congratulations to Dr. Schifra Uwamungu! 🎓on the successful defense of her doctoral thesis, “Epidemiology of Human Papillomavirus Infections in East Africa – Aspects on HIV, Genetics and Immunology” at @uniofgothenburg#Sweden.
Her research makes a valuable contribution to public health, particularly in the East African context where HPV prevalence and cervical cancer mortality remain critically high.
She pursued her doctoral studies under the @URSwedenProgram, a bilateral research cooperation between the Governments of 🇸🇪& 🇷🇼 through UR and funded by @Sida.

Very high achievement by the #Uni_Rwanda leadership. #aphrc and #iucea can showcase the supervision and mentorship framework developed with a regional collaboration to address gender gap in STEM postgraduate training and careers.
Our senior officials, including Vice Chancellor Prof. @mdkayihura and Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. @Rayndikumana, are currently in Japan for a preparatory meeting to host the International Association of Universities (IAU) Conference #IAU2025 in Kigali, scheduled for October 2025.
This prestigious event is expected to attract over 600 higher education institutions and organizations, reaffirming Rwanda's status as an ideal destination for global academic dialogue and the exchange of best practices. Hosting this conference will further enhance Rwanda's reputation as a global academic hub and a model of international collaboration.
