Yesterday was a day full of emotions. Very happy to have defended my PhD thesis but at the same time sad to be leaving such an amazing lab and mentor @ccb_Lab . Looking forward for the new exciting chapter of my scientific career.
Women lose >90% of their #eggs by their mid-30s, with persistent #DNADamage driving this loss. But why isn’t this damage repaired?
Our new work in @CurrentBiology, led by @ninadini_sharma, reveals the causes of high DNA damage in aged oocytes.🧬💥

For the Spo11/meiotic afficionados, the labs of @Spo11Rulz and Dinshaw Patel now provide notable structural and mechanistic insight, in a paper we here @NatureSMB are glad to feature. https://t.co/NFK2hJ7oEk
Results of the 2023 ERC Consolidator Grant competition are out.
€627 million for 308 researchers.
Who has been offered funding?
What topics and questions will they investigate?

🎧🧬 DNA Enzymes explained with earphones! 🎧🧬 Good for teaching!
•Helicase: untangles the double helix structure of DNA
•Topoisomerase: relieves tension created by unwinding of DNA strands
•Ligase: joins broken ends of DNA strands together
•Restriction enzyme: cuts DNA at specific sequences
•CRISPR-Cas: edits DNA sequences
•DNase: breaks down DNA molecules
A new preprint from Raphaël Guérois lab, @CejkaLab and @lab_borde uncovering the molecular mechanism that Sae2 uses to activate Mre11 nuclease - and highlighting an interesting conservation with CtIP https://t.co/qbPmbOn6xG
Proud of what we were able to achieve. Couldn't imagine a better first author paper😍. Thanks to @ccb_Lab for the amazing supervision, our collaborators and colleagues.
We're now less than a year away from the 2024 Gordon Research Conference on Meiosis!
Jun 2-7, Colby-Sawyer College, New London, NH. Needhi Bhalla (@NeedhiBhalla) and I are working on the program. #Meiosis2024

Yesterday some lucky ERC staff members had the chance to go behind the scenes at Corentin Claeys Bouuaert's lab!
Financed by 🇪🇺EU funding, his team investigate the transmission of 🧬 DNA from one 👨 generation to 👶 another.

Exciting news 🐭🔬🧬: My PhD work on the role of the FIGNL1-FIRRM complex during mouse meiotic recombination is now available on bioRxiv, please check it out!
Thanks to all authors and collaborators, my supervisor Dr. Frederic Baudat and all B. de Massy lab members!

Happy #WomenInScience Day!
Let us get rid of stereotypes, challenge gender bias and beat discrimination that hold women & girls back in science, technology, engineering and maths!
