On the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), I held a bilateral meeting with Hon. Minoru Kiuchi, Japan's Minister of State for Health Care Policy.

I appreciated Japan's steadfast support to Kenya in health security, infectious disease control, medical innovation and capacity development, including contributions to the Africa Health and Wellbeing Initiative (AfHWIN).

Looking ahead, we agreed to deepen collaboration in digital health, technology transfer, health resilience, non-communicable diseases and sustainable financing models.

Hon. Kiuchi reaffirmed Japan's commitment to translating this shared vision into impactful programs.

Kenya values this enduring partnership and looks forward to advancing Africa–Japan cooperation in global health.

I was joined in the meeting by Dr. Daniel Mwai, Presidential Advisor, Health, DG Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, and Dr. Abdullahi Ali, Chair KEMRI.
