@Helene_FR@Adobe It’s all about AI. We’re paying for cpu cycles, power usage, and maybe bandwidth. We’d all be better off buying used Mac studios and running our own LLM’s on prem.
@oerg866 Mac hardware is killer but rheOS feels bulky. But I’m also 30 year Windows user. Tried Linux on my video workstation and it gave me issues. Windows 11 LTSC is the best windows OS since 7. The crap is removed and it’s snappy even on older hardware.
@notsurerightnah@Pirat_Nation Linux has enormous potential, buts it’s just that, potential. In a professional environment, a Linux desktop is far from ideal. Lack of software is one thing, occasional OS hiccups are another.
@thecomputerclan MS really needs to make the AI, telemetry opt-in instead of force-off. They also need to fix windows update and remove the bloat. Good machines were great running win10 are becoming trash with win11 because bloat.
#Linux is fantastic. But in my industry it’s limited. Will someone please give us a pro level video editor and motion a motion graphics compositor? And no, Davinci Resolve Studio isn’t it. I’ve used it on Linux and it’s limited in many ways. This is why we use Macs & PC’s
@CodeByNZ I use all 3 in my office and they all have a purpose. Video workstations run on Win10. Linux distros just aren’t there yet, particularly for my work. But the recent progress has been great. MacOS just wants to hold your hand but I haven’t made the UI efficient either.
@Pirat_Nation Yes, and I’ll be switching to Linux in a matter of weeks. It’s not crazy, it’s smart for my business. I need reliability and consistency something we don’t get with Windows anymore. We have very expensive workstations that run 24/7, replacing them with Macs isn’t an option.
@tecmint All the above. Linux has come a long, long way in last decade. But issues with hardware, fear of the terminal, lack of direction, and overall ignorance leads to people sticking with familiarity and what works or moving to M series Mac’s.
Just got a survey in my inbox from Canva, asking several questions about Affinity photo and Affinity designer. Get this….they asked if we would prefer a SUBSCRIPTION or one time fee as payment. Hmmm…..
@dustinhollywood@Adobe I can't speak for Canva's TOS. But so many are saying they're making the switch to the Affinity products. Now being under the flag of Serif, will Affinity lose their perpetual license or go the way that so many have, including Canva?

Hey @Microsoft and @Windows and @thurrott and @windowsweekly, I’ve been using Windows prior to Win95, tried installing Windows 11 this morning. Disaster. Never seen a such a complicated process. I get security, but seriously. Windows 10 = next XP - longtime windows user
