@KyleWal54389073@RutgersAltRoute I agree, varying assessment (test, projects, papers) is important to serve the unique learning styles of each student!
@RutgersAltRoute A5 #AltRtEd#Growthmindset I think a challenge is getting everyone focused on a growth mindset. For students to grow, a team approach must be used between the student's teaching network, family, coaches, guidance counselors, etc. Everyone must work together to encourage growth.
@RutgersAltRoute A4 #AltRtEd#Growthmindset Allowing students to fix their errors, encouraging them to keep trying, and giving them specific feedback on how to improve can all foster growth mindset in students.
@RutgersAltRoute A3 #AltRtEd#Growthmindset Keep things positive and encouraging! Acknowledge that content may be difficult but encourage students to do their best and that this is what you are looking for more than good grades.
@Spedteacher2022@RutgersAltRoute Great Point Han! Learning from mistakes was one of the strategies mentioned in the webinar videos; having mistakes be a venue for learning rather than a sign of failure is so important!
@RutgersAltRoute A2 #AltRtEd#Growthmindset By making material applicable to student's lives and incorporating special interests, students will be more motivated to grow in the content of the class. Also encouraging students to ask deeper questions fosters growth.
@RutgersAltRoute A1 #AltRtEd#Growthmindset A challenge of mindset is that is can cause teachers and students to remain stagnant in their teaching and learning, a opportunity is that we as teachers can truly unlock all of our students potential and gifts.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: #AltRtEd#Sped Focusing on behavioral modification rather than discipline is important! Disciplining a student will not help them learn or change but teaching them acceptable and correct responses and reinforcing them for doing these responses will foster change and learning
@RutgersAltRoute A4 @AltRtEd #Sped virtual learning for students with disabilities is very difficult! I found that working as a team with other teachers, parents/guardians, and the student was very helpful to support learning virtually.
@RutgersAltRoute A3 #AltRtEd#Sped Allowing times during instruction for students to get up and move around, incorporating hands-on examples and instruction, and using real life examples can all help students with learning disabilities succeed.
@RutgersAltRoute A2 @AltRtEd @Sped I'd like to empower my students not to be ashamed of their disabilities or feel the need to hide them from their peers.
@NicoleMessner6@RutgersAltRoute Hi Nicole, definitely! Empowering students to ask questions is so important and gives them autonomy over their learning!
@RutgersAltRoute A2 #AltRtEd#Sped I would love to include more trips and outings into the community in the future. I believe students can learn much by generalizing their skills outside of the classroom
@Mary603233322@RutgersAltRoute I agree Mary! It's so important but also difficult to address not only the disabilities but also the language of our students.
