@ChimeWhistle Actually, we've had a great deal of success doing something similar @GWRHelp on a few places on our network. You'd be very welcome to come down and see it in action, Jonathan

For this year’s @WorldBookDayUK we’re delighted to be retelling a collection of myths and legends first published 100 years ago.
The Line to Legend Land features a special new tale about a miracle dolphin written by former children’s laureate @Michaelmorpurg

@AndyRoden1@TheFactCompiler@colinwalker79 One of the potential benefits of 'fast charge' technology is that you arent constantly charging the battery to full but doing so in increments usually below 80% which help protect and extend battery life

@ChimeWhistle The train itself isnt the point - although I completely appreciate why its cool. Its the fast charge tech built into it and the two years+ of testing, research and experiments so we can better understand how it works in practise.
Hint: they're not. The changes today were significant, but were made to help keep customers moving and manage anticipated service disruption following the Met Office weather warning re: Storm Bram.
Just been told, from a GW source, that huge parts of the new timetable are having to be amended because of the fuel pump crisis. All hands to the pump(!) to get it sorted in time.
@ChimeWhistle Sort of. The 802s were ordered with engines uprated so they could work the gradients in Devon and Cornwall. We then uprated the 800s so we could more efficiently diagram the whole fleet avross the whole network. Not required on considerably flatter routes run by similar trains.
@ChimeWhistle Sort of. The Cardiff route is fully electrified, so running fully electric trains on that route helps us reduce delays by reducing the amount of diesel running under wires.
Rail fares.
Many people think the UK has the highest ticket prices in Europe.
That's true only in one narrow sense: Eurostar from London to Paris/Brussels.
But otherwise Britain is broadly comparable with France, Germany and Italy.
