@julianofclapton It was certainly a fascinating day. There’s such a historic atmosphere there: driving around the sprawling site, with @Dan_Jubb commentating on everything we came across, made my car feel more like a time machine.
The Westcott site is absolutely steeped in history. That holey wall behind rocketeer @Dan_Jubb is a Cold War rocket test blast shield, while grassed-over WW2 ammo stores now serve as mission control and firing bunkers.
British rocketry is attempting an unlikely comeback at Westcott, the site of the post-war Rocket Propulsion Establishment. For @BBC_Future, here's my report from one of the site's firing bunkers: https://t.co/qtMM8vSchk #Space#Aviation
Big thank you to the Falcon Project for hosting the “Cranfield - Rocket Motors and Propellants Course”, brilliant as always.
