@DonaldCSinclair @Billius27 @writenrun @TorontoStar @MarinaGlogovac We found it impossible to cancel online and had to call. Would not consider subscribing again as a result of the experience. Apple News, NYT, and WP will have to suffice.
@gator_gum This could not be more true! MANY dance studios are being denied the support grant from the January closure being told they are 'ineligible'. Ford goes public with the good news, but privately turns everyone down. @fordnation@MacLeodLisa@CFIB
@TorontoStar For profit dance studios, which have been hit as hard as anyone in the NFP sector, will likely be left out once again. This at a time when dance studios are being left out of the last round of funding for reasons no one understands. @MacLeodLisa@CFIB
@robyndances@CFIB@fordnation@brianlilley We are planning to gather info on this ... many of our members have not received this grant despite being closed down and obviously eligible. It feels like @fordnation did a bait and switch. Told the public how they were helping and then denied us the funds. @CFIB@MacLeodLisa
We lost two more great small businesses over the last week. Lockdowns have real consequences.
Hospitalizations at #Brampton Civic are down dramatically this week from 110 to 70 #COVID19 patients.
The reopening schedule is too slow. It’s time reopen fully our small businesses.
The Terry Fox Foundation is proud to continue Terry’s mission of funding cancer research. Terry believed in science and gave his life to help others. Thank you to all of our supporters who help us work toward realizing Terry’s dream of a world without cancer. 🇨🇦
Well said @Sid_Seixeiro. It is beyond frustrating to see the media abdicate their responsibility to practice journalism throughout this pandemic. #canadianmediafail
I don’t usually respond like this on social media…but I need to say something: I have never, ever been censored regarding anything I’ve ever said on-air. My opinions today regarding the Premier of Ontario not only aired live this morning, but were also posted. Here it is.
Ontario needs to remove the lockdown, as planned, on Jan 26. Most CFIB members have been skeptical this will happen as they've faced among the longest lockdowns in the world (over 420 days for many). Comments from @fordnation suggest govt may stick to its word this time.
Once again, @fordnation is making small businesses jump through ridiculous hoops for table scraps. And many (MOST?) small businesses won't qualify as they have gross leases with taxes and utilities included in their rent. @PBethlenfalvy@CFIB@MacLeodLisa
Has the media asked this Government why it is not allowing anyone who rents to qualify for this program? How many landlords will? Property taxes are almost always included. @ColinDMello @cristina_CP24 @CBCToronto@CFIB
While this is welcome news to some, MANY (most?) small businesses have gross leases that include property taxes and even utilities. These businesses are shut out of this program. Why not allow them to submit the info from their landlord? @fordnation@MacLeodLisa@PBethlenfalvy
Ontario's Business Costs Rebate Program is now open! Eligible businesses can get a rebate for part or all of their energy (electricity and heating) and property tax bills. Check if you're eligible and apply here! https://t.co/XHiUkXmuxE #onpoli
@MaleehaCity We're not sure we could trust anything the province says at this point anyway. Whether they said we will or will not open, they have demonstrated time and again that their word means little. But this uncertainty is causing severe anxiety for small business owners.
“We’re just left out here to fend for ourselves. It’s terrible.” Businesses face more uncertainty as province hints a Jan. 26 reopening isn’t guaranteed. #covid19
