Water is a right, not a luxury. Gaps in water access come from weak public policy and poor funding, not from lack of water itself. That’s why we need to invest in universal public services to make sure everyone gets clean water, no matter their income.

NEWS: @CIJ_ICJ affirms @ILO#right2strike in BIG WIN for workers+#unions.✊🔴🚩
PSI General Secretary @DanielBertossa said: “The ability to withhold our labour, if and when necessary, has always been part of workers' wider right to organize. Today, the world’s highest court has affirmed our right to strike."
The decision provides international support for unions everywhere to #fightback when rights are attacked nationally.
“PSI will support our members to use the protections of the ILO when freedom of association and our rights come under attack. Today’s ruling shows that workers will stand up and be heard. We have international law on our side.”

The International Court of Justice @CIJ_ICJ has ruled that the right to strike is protected under international law — upholding Article 87 of the ILO Convention on Freedom of Association.
This is a landmark moment for workers and unions everywhere.
Watch PSI member Asad Ur Rehman Aasi, Deputy General Secretary, Public Sector Employees Federation of Pakistan (PSEFP), explain why this ruling matters — for workers in Pakistan and around the world.
He says that the right to strike is not a crime. It is a fundamental democratic right — the last voice workers have when dialogue fails, when promises are broken and when decisions are imposed without consultation.

After sustained organising and advocacy by trade unions, Sri Lanka has officially ratified ILO Convention No. 190 on violence and harassment in the world of work.
Following the announcement in December, the government formally submitted the ratification to the ILO on 16 April, making Sri Lanka the 55th country to ratify C190.
This is a significant step towards ensuring safe, dignified workplaces, especially for women workers.
The struggle now moves to implementation—to make sure these protections are realised in every workplace.

🗽Our co-chair @JosephEStiglitz was clear: the super rich pay a much lower tax rate than the working class — and even lower than what they themselves paid in the 60s.

The PSI affiliates, occupational federations, and key national centres in Nepal, particularly NTUC, GEFONT, and ANTUF, have come together and resolved to fight the anti-trade union reform agenda proposed by the Nepal government.
At a national consultation meeting held on 12 April 2026 in Kathmandu, the leaders appreciated the international solidarity expressed by GUFs, such as PSI, from the Asia Pacific region and seriously discussed the gaps, current challenges, and key priority actions to be taken forward for the protection of the trade union movement in Nepal.
The meeting also acknowledged the historic contribution made by trade unions in every political change in Nepal and stressed the need for unity and joint action on all fronts, ranging from grassroots organising and media/narrative battles to legal and policy struggles. Leaders committed to intensifying organising campaigns within their own structures and to actively engaging in trade union networks, joint lobbying and advocacy initiatives, as well as the preparation of joint events and campaigns such as May Day celebrations.
The meeting was largely successful in creating a shared understanding among different trade unions, with a strong commitment to work together on joint campaigns for visible change in the world of work in Nepal.

PSI, along with Global Union Federations (GUFs), representing workers across various sectors, have issued a joint statement expressing grave concern over the Nepal government’s proposal to ban selected trade unions, especially those representing public services workers.
The statement warns that such a move would directly violate Nepal’s Constitution, breach its obligations under ILO Convention 98, and undermine the democratic right of workers to organise and bargain collectively.

In a historic first, Barangay Health Workers in the Philippines have won official government registration of their union — Maka-BHW Pilipinas. This is a major organising breakthrough that establishes their legitimacy and strengthens their power to engage governments at all levels.
This is more than a legal victory. It is recognition that community health work is work — and that CHWs deserve rights, voice, dignity, and collective bargaining power like all workers.
For decades, CHWs have been the backbone of primary healthcare, serving remote and underserved communities with little pay, no social protection, and almost no recognition. Now, through collective organising, they have a union that can fight for better wages, legal recognition, social security, and the Magna Carta for Barangay Health Workers.

The EU says equity is central to the Pandemic Agreement. But by enabling anonymous access and opposing binding benefit-sharing at the point of access, it risks institutionalizing biopiracy - undermining the very multilateralism it claims to uphold.

A CEO making $95.8 million while their median worker makes $14,674 is not just excessive. It is immoral.
Shoutout to SF for pushing to strengthen its “Overpaid CEO Tax”, and to LA for stepping up too.
