@AvidCommentator @tinbot88 U been to a shopping centre lately? Dead quiet. Was at high point this week, bought something from a homeware shop, owner said I was only the 3rd sale for the day… it was 4pm.
@AvidCommentator Regardless of the pace of rate hikes the marginal borrower still won’t be able to afford mortgage repayments when they’re this high.. surely at best it would only reduce the pace of price declines?
@AvidCommentator@simon_ree Yeah plenty of those people loving life. There’s be plenty of households that bought say before 3 years will minimal deposit that will approach negative equity if prices keep dropping sharply. Equity withdrawal will slow down considerably.
@AvidCommentator@simon_ree That’s really interesting. Could it be because property price falls only recently started to accelerate? Would think that as the decline increases people will surely slow down their home ATM withdrawls.
@PeteWargent I hear a lot anecdotally, particularly in trades that a lots of young people just dont wanna take the jobs offered to them, let alone turning up to interviews. I suspect many have thought they could make money in crypto/stock markets, govt payouts, lazy etc. Got any data on this?
