The Liberal government targets conscripted soldiers who had no choice, while many official IRGC members remain untouched. Real accountability should focus on those responsible, not on victims of mandatory service.
@Ardeshirz@pfragiskatos@gary_srp#ConscriptsAreNotMembers
@AliEhsassi chaired a parliament session on conscripts and sat silent while liars spread fake statistics, zero pushback, zero defense. Now he refuses to even meet to address it. This is pure irresponsibility.
#conscriptsAreNotMembers
I’m sharing snapshots (3 images) of evidence collected and accessible by the Government of Canada, clearly demonstrating why IRGC conscripts cannot be considered members of this organization.
Military conscription in Iran is mandatory for all males, with assignments made without personal choice. Conscripts are placed into various military branches, including the IRGC, based solely on state needs. Refusing military service results in severe consequences, such as detention or imprisonment.
Mr. @MarcMillerVM, history will not forget that despite this evidence, countless appeals from affected individuals, and the undeniable pain caused by Canada’s blanket policies, you chose to ignore the suffering of innocent Iranian families.
Your ministry had the power to correct this injustice by creating exemptions and providing IRCC with clear guidelines to distinguish conscripts from members. Yet, you failed to act.
You had the chance to do the right thing and to be remembered for humane actions when your government is gone. Instead, you turned your back on these families, breaking promises to protect conscripts.
History will remember the families you shattered and the futures you destroyed under the guise of fighting the Iranian regime. Meanwhile, regime members continue to exploit your immigration system without challenge. The only people punished were innocent Iranians fleeing oppression, seeking safety.

Before the IRGC listing, we were promised conscripts wouldn't be affected. After the listing, we were assured decisions would be made case by case to avoid penalizing people for mandatory service they couldn't refuse.
But the first "case-by-case" outcome just released is a rejection, solely because of mandatory conscription.
Broken promises, and innocent people are paying the price.

#IranianFormerConscripts have been victimized from every angle. Two years of youth lost to forced service in Iran, the silence of influential figures like @esmaeilion who chose not to speak up after clear promises were broken, and now a report by an @IranIntl journalist claiming, based on their recent correspondence, that IRCC has stated conscript cases will be reviewed individually (case-by-case). A claim full of gaps and contradictions. Following that, several so-called “immigration consultants” are repeating the same narrative to gain attention, without spending even a moment thinking about the consequences for the families whose lives have been shattered by this injustice.
The @liberal_party made a major false promise to Iranian community advocates and failed to honour it. With your silence, @esmaeilion , and with these misleading claims, this issue has turned into a major crisis for Iranian families and their children.
It’s time to break your silence. Stand with conscripts and hold those responsible for this injustice accountable.

@Mohammadret7ly I am his wife. We are a family separated for nearly 8 years — Canada and Iran, waiting to be together again.
My daughter needs her father. We just want to be reunited.

@KevinVuongxMP My name is Yasna.
My father was only a conscript.
He served because it was mandatory.
I have been apart from my father for eight years.
Yes, eight years.
Please defend me and all the children who are far from their fathers.
Being apart from my father for so long is enough. 😔
I am a father.
Before anything else, I am a father.
I work hard every day, not for myself, but for my child.
My daughter is my world. She is my strength, my reason to endure.
I am not a criminal.
I am not a threat.
I am simply a man who wants to be there for his child.
Every night, I think of her voice, her smile, her small hands in mine.
No father should have to beg to be with his child.
No child should have to grow up without her father.
I ask, with all the dignity and pain a father can carry:
Please let me be reunited with my daughter.
This separation is unjust — and it is breaking a family.

My name is Mohammadreza Vadiati.
For nearly 8 years, I have lived in Canada separated from my wife and daughter.
I came to Canada as a refugee with my son because my life and my family's safety were at risk in Iran. After being recognized as a Protected Person, I applied for Permanent Residence.
After more than 6 years of waiting, my application was refused because of mandatory military service I was forced to complete in Iran many years ago—something I had no choice in.
When I arrived in Canada, I started from nothing. In Iran, I worked in the poultry industry. In Canada, I took whatever jobs I could find, worked hard, paid taxes, contributed to my community, and built a new life from the ground up. Today, I proudly own a successful small business, in North Vancouver.
But despite all of my efforts, I remain separated from my family.
I cannot safely return to Iran. My wife and daughter cannot join me in Canada. My daughter has Down syndrome and needs her father. For years, I have watched her grow up through phone screens and video calls. I have missed birthdays, milestones, and precious moments that I can never get back. No video call can replace a father's hug.
We have tried every legal pathway available. We submitted multiple immigration applications and even applied for a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) for my wife and daughter so our family could finally be together. Those applications were also refused.
Today, I am trapped in an impossible situation. I cannot go to my family, and my family cannot come to me. Nearly 8 years have passed, and we are still waiting.
I am not just an immigration file number. I am a husband. I am a father. I am a small business owner. I am a member of my community. Most importantly, I am a person who simply wants to be reunited with the people he loves.
Eight years apart is too long for any family.
