The #LHC begins its hibernation season 💤
CERN’s year-end-technical stop (YETS) starts today, and it marked the end of the #LHCRun3 for the year. Here’s the full list of what we achieved during this run⬇️
Last week, I celebrated the 10th anniversary since the discovery of the #Higgsboson#Higgs10; the start of #LHCRun3, the new season for #physics.
And… my fourth anniversary at @CERN. I could not have imagined that I would be doing it directly from the CERN Control Centre.😌
Smiles at an energy of 13.6 TeV 🤩
In this #PhotoOfTheWeek, we celebrate the successful start of the #LHCRun3 and another #physics season. It sure “took a village” of scientific collaborations across the world to make it happen.

Happy #Higgs10 anniversary!
#OnThisDay in 2012, the @ATLASexperiment and @CMSexperiment announced the discovery of the Higgs boson. Its existence confirms the existence of the “Higgs field”, which gives mass to elementary particles.

📣 Beam in the accelerator!
After over three years of intense upgrade work, we are #restartingLHC.
Two beams of #protons are now circulating in opposite directions around the Large Hadron Collider, expecting to reach the record energy of 13.6 TeV in the summer of 2022.
The noise level is rising here in the @cern control centre, because today is #restartingLHC day. A first for me…super exciting! And a privilege to be working with great science communicators #IWorkWithGreatPeople#BehindTheScenes
The CERN community stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, a CERN Associate Member State. An extraordinary meeting of the CERN Council has been called by the President of Council for Tuesday 8 March, to discuss the appropriate measures to take.

This is the first copper component made for accelerators using #3Dprinting, made possible through the #Horizon2020 project IFAST, coordinated by CERN.
It is a finished quadrupole segment made from pure copper powder melted using a green laser.

🚀 CERN tech at the service of astronauts!
🌟 @Thom_astro activated #Lumina inside the #ISS. Developed with @CNES, this optical fibre-based dosimetry experiment will help better track down radiation inside the spacecraft.

Ethical AI? 🤖🤔
The fifth episode of our #podcast series #CERNSparks is out!
Listen @Google's computer scientist @nunuska and philosopher @smatthewliao as they bring a laser focus to their analysis of ethical challenges posed by real-world #AI: https://t.co/NMqmb5FLpo
#OnThisDay in 1902, the theoretical physicist Paul Dirac was born. His pioneer work gave us the first glimpse of an "antielectron", or "positron". 💫
Today, antiprotons are used to measure gravity's influence on #antimatter.
