--Tea garden wise ‘Task Force’ should be developed for sensitizing people, tracing spotting and counselling patients and their family members.
-- Workers in closed and abandoned tea gardens must be provided with emergency financial relief, food, water, electricity & health care.

--The Government of West Bengal along with the tea garden owners should guarantee wages and other emoluments for the workers, during the lock down period.
--Hospitals and Dispensaries in Tea Gardens should be used to set up Covid-19 testing and isolation centres.

--Tea Plantations and Factories should remain a part of the “Complete Safety Restrictions” measure taken under the “West Bengal Epidemic Diseases COVID-19 Regulations 2020.”

Today, I received representation from the Joint Forum of Tea Industry of India, highlighting the plight of tea garden workers in Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars, who have been working in the tea gardens, without any protection from Coronavirus.

Another exploitation, another crime - tea garden workers continue to suffer. Toorsa TE Shut Down yesterday without any notice, as workers were awaiting payment of their Festival Bonus.

However, much of their action is politically backed and they end up bearing the brunt of someone else's political ambition and manipulation.
