Databento

A simpler, faster way to get market data.

[Databento @DatabentoHQ]

We're excited to announce Databento's $97 million Series B, led by @NEA, with participation from DRW Venture Capital, @Redpoint Ventures, @Tribecap, and more.

In the last few years, Databento has become the market data provider of choice for many of the world's largest hedge funds, fintechs, and AI labs. If you've ever traded a stock in a mobile app or filled your tank at a gas station, you've almost certainly relied on a product powered by Databento.

Market data is a $50B+ industry that underpins nearly every financial decision on the planet. Programmatic access is becoming the industry default — we believe that three years from now, more finance professionals will know how to use a Databento API than a traditional terminal.
This round takes us one step closer, as we increase our storage footprint to over 100 petabytes and expand across asset classes and geographies.

To our customers and community: Thank you for your enormous support over these past three years! We built this for you, and we can't wait to show you what's next.

🇳🇱 Our core engineering team is in Amsterdam to welcome a few of our newest teammates.

They're spending the week planning the next phase of our market data infrastructure as we continue to scale globally.

Between whiteboarding sessions, the team explored the city and stopped by the bull outside Euronext Amsterdam, home to the world’s oldest stock exchange.

Next week, Chris Grant and Eric Duncan will be at the FISD World Financial Information Conference (WFIC) in Copenhagen. Chris will also be moderating a panel on the final day. If you’re attending #WFIC2026, come say hi!

We'll wrap up our fall event calendar on December 1 in New York at Nasdaq MarketSite, where we’re co-hosting a panel with @Nasdaq ahead of the launch of 23/5 equities trading. We’ll discuss the move toward nearly round-the-clock U.S. equities trading and what it means for market participants.

Interested in joining us in NYC? Sign up at the link below to get notified when registration for the panel opens.

@DatabentoHQ is like Fort Knox for hard drives lately. We've bought over 100PB of SAS hard disks in 2026, plus about 20PB of flash storage.

AI agents need the same reliable market data that trading firms depend on every day.

We’re excited to join the @Tiny_Fish Data Partner Alliance as a founding partner, bringing Databento market data to agents built on TinyFish.

[TinyFish @Tiny_Fish]

AI agents are the web's biggest users.

They run on TinyFish, so we see what they reach for: data that's licensed, not published.

Today, with @crunchbase, @Similarweb, and 13 more companies, we're launching the TinyFish Data Partners Alliance.

The best data, curated by category, for agents.

Bentos with Databento 🍱
Recently, we brought together members of the NYC quant community over Japanese food and conversations about hiring and AI. Our Head of People, Casey Sharbaugh, shared some lessons we’ve learned about hiring in the era of AI-generated resumes - followed by plenty of passionate discussion around the table.

My favorite type of product is something we built for ourselves & use daily: For the past year, our team at Databento has been using a Unix timestamp converter that makes working with timestamps less annoying.

Today, we're making it public: https://t.co/0mhVIjMgRg
It automatically detects 100+ input formats, handles exchange time zones, and is available via Chrome extension, open-source CLI, URL shortcut, or website.

Hope it saves someone else a few headaches too.

Today, we’re launching https://t.co/1z4FIvW33r, the Unix timestamp converter we've been using internally at Databento for the past year.

We built it with several quality-of-life features that save us time in our daily work, including:
🔎 Automatic detection of 100+ input formats
🌎 Shortcuts for exchange time zones and UTC date boundaries
🧩 Chrome extension for converting timestamps on any webpage
💻 Timestamp conversion directly with curl
🔗 Shareable URLs and link previews

Try it at https://t.co/1z4FIvW33r, or read more about why we built it at the link below.

How will AI reshape alpha signal research and development?

Last Friday, our CEO, @christinaqi, moderated a debate with quantitative research leaders from Barclays and Deutsche Bank on whether AI will become the dominant approach to developing alpha signals.

The panel took place at @cornell_tech's AI & Future of Finance Conference. Thank you to Arik Ben Dor and Caio Natividade for the discussion, and to @RebellionAI and the Cornell team for bringing everyone together!

We rounded out a full day in NYC catching up with friends across the VC community.
