New APSR article co-authored by UCD Prof. Jim Adams, UCD grad. student @DaveB90 along with @NoamGidron, @RWillH11, @dianazobrien, and @KaitlinSenk on "How Women MPs Can Ameliorate Affective Polarization in Western Publics." Great work!

@dianazobrien @RWillH11@KaitlinSenk@NoamGidron We find that parties that increase their proportion of women MPs receive an "affective bonus" from out-partisans, offering a potential route to decreasing affective polarization. Open access right here: https://t.co/yBIFkW0ohL
Great to see our piece on women's representation and affective polarization, with Jim Adams, @dianazobrien @RWillH11@KaitlinSenk@NoamGidron mentioned in this Guardian article today https://t.co/CJFgg0of4X
@adamscottkunz On the other hand, I just had my second student write "Shame he's a Chelsea fan" on every box on my evals this quarter. I admire the dedication to the bit, but it doesn't make great reading in job apps
I'm teaching Intro to Comparative Politics in the new year and looking for some non-academic material to add variety to the syllabus: podcasts, documentaries, movies etc. Open to any suggestions! #AcademicTwitter
@poliscibitches I try to set a benchmark for what I expect from each level of work (and ideally have example assignments so students know that expectation), and grade accordingly. So if everyone can meet the A standard, great!
Using original data on women reps. in 125 political parties over time, James Adams, @DaveB90, @NoamGidron, @RWillH11, @dianazobrien, & @KaitlinSenk show that increases in women reps is associated with decreases in affective polarization https://t.co/Xt2PY1Z7IG
Having two students tell me that my class (first as an instructor of record!) is their favourite poli sci class at Davis on the same day is definitely a new career highlight #AcademicTwitter
All good things have to come to an end. Thomas Tuchel’s reign as a Chelsea manager was undoubtedly a good time but it had to end – for his benefit and ours.
I will explain in this thread where things went wrong and why we had to separate.
