@RailStory @GarethDennis I don't think there was anything suspicious; Gresley only trusted an average over 5 seconds, his less experienced and more enthusiastic subordinates thought they could see 126 for one second. (Carling discusses this). I thought that the 126 only came out in 1948 (Loco Exchanges)

@PhillipsPOBrien ...leaving the EU did not mean we were turning our back on the world. The EU's attitude to the UK has never considered in times of crisis EU capitals in the east were more likely to look to London than Berlin, Paris or Brussels for help.
@PhillipsPOBrien There is no evidence that the UK would have persuaded Berlin to do more if it had been in the EU. The UK would have supported Ukraine regardless - but I'm sure Brexit has given it a little edge. The opportunity to remind the EU of the UK's value to Europeans and to show...
