@sheevthan —happen got shifted when the 5-years-after-RotJ became the era Filoni was given to work in. If we had gotten the story of Ahsoka initially training Sabine first, it likely would have felt less jarring.
@sheevthan It’s not like they’ve done all that much with her yet, post Rebels. And it would have been strange if she hadn’t gotten messed up mentally by finding out that her master became Darth Vader, and had to deal with that.
I suspect the original time frame for when that was going to—
@ScubaGuyer@MaceAhWindu They did introduce what was effectively a “new Moff” in Krennic, and he is the villain the story revolves around. Tarkin only shows up for a scene or two because it would’ve been odd if he weren’t there.
But RO is a new story featuring a group of several entirely new characters.
@ironfister01@rosebudlight In Lucas's version, Luke would have been (perhaps) in hiding (or at least, needing to be found), but it would have been under completely different circumstances and for completely different reasons.
@retneysholocron If it was Favreau saying this, you might have a point, but it's not. It's the guy who runs the corporation talking to people who make money off the corporation
It's no reason to suggest the actual storytellers were motivated by this, or not doing their best to make a good movie.
@DetectiveSpade_ The vast, vast majority of movies don't have interactions between characters before the movie.
It's very possible (and, again, much, much more common) to establish a relationship between characters within just one movie.

@adamhlavac And if you're going to count sizzle reels and anything involving the Infinity Stones as part of the first build up, then you have to count the convention reveals and (most likely) anything involving the multiverse as part of this build up.
@RJSWtrilogyWhen Also, reading the full article, it sounds like he’s not necessarily thinking of generative AI, but rather things that, before the AI investors wanted everything to be branded as “AI”, we would have just called an image filter or automated rotoscoping, etc.
@TatooineSons —was established as the narrative through line of the “Episode” films.
(And specifically the Episodes; from the beginning, there have been other stories set in the world of SW that were about other characters, and thus outside of the Episodes (e.g. the Han and Lando novels)).
@TatooineSons —in TLJ, Rey is more naturally powerful in the Force than almost anyone, whether that came from a familial connection or elsewhere.
The inclination to make Rey part of the Skywalker family wasn’t because of some “special bloodline” nonsense, it was simply because that family—
