Barley breeder with InterGrain. Passionate about agriculture, barley, beer, footy, cricket, beach and the great Australian outback. Terrific family to boot!
@BarleyPlanet Hi, RGT Planet has been grown in Australia for several years and is best adapted to the higher yield environments (in an Australian context, that is greater than 4t/ha). In the Australian context, the variety would not be considered as drought resilient.
@KithsiriJayase3@InterGrain1 @DPIRDWA @theGRDC Thanks Kith, but something for you to watch: Neo is excellent for SFNB and PM, good for NFNB but is leaf rust susceptible (not bad, but it is susceptible) ... it's one weakness ... please manage.
@PaulRundle82@InterGrain1 @DPIRDWA @theGRDC It is a RGT Planet derivative, so similar in some ways eg growing season length, but shorter, hence higher harvest index, meaning slightly less straw and improved lodging tolerance @InterGrain1
12t/ha spring barley yield has us very excited! Not bad for a 5-month crop! Uncorrected for moisture atm but don't expect it to change too much. Control var. RGT Planet in yellow #hyperYieldingCrops@theGRDC@far_australia@Pooley_Nick_FAR
@DMAg_consultant@nullaboo48@InterGrain1 We had quite severe brackling at a WA trial site. Maximus was the standout variety in terms of brackling tolerance/resistance. Spartacus and La Trobe were bad but there were others that were worse! ๐
A few RWA moving into our resistance/seed dressing trial at Coomalbidgup. Testing out how good the resistance in IGB1954 really is. Stay posted. Thanks Svet Micic and Luke Marquis for your support. @InterGrain1
Launching COMMODUS CL (IGB1908), our newest IMI barley! Agronomically similar to Compass and well suited to medium-low rainfall environments, itโs worth a look!
