Police are investigating a suspected drugs and sex cartel linked to the murder of Seth Nyakio, 23, the daughter of nominated Kirinyaga MCA Lucy Njeri who was found dead at Biafra Estate in Thika on October 14.

Nyakio had been invited to Thika by a female friend and attended a swimming party before spending the night in a rented room in the crime-prone area.

The following day she was found naked and strangled to death.

Initial investigations suggest that Nyakio may have been drawn into a sex and drugs syndicate.

According to a party attendee, liquor and substances were involved and the party was connected to a woman known for linking young women with clients in exchange for commissions.

Nyakio's mother confirmed being aware of her daughter's association with the woman whom she had previously warned her daughter against.

Investigators are probing two key theories.

The first is that Nyakio may have been mistaken for her host, who was reportedly entangled in a love triangle involving two men, one of whom had previously issued death threats.

Alternatively, local gang members may have assaulted and killed her after accessing the room where she was left alone.

An autopsy revealed evidence of strangulation and possible sexual assault.

No arrests have been made yet.
