Improving the web @DuckDuckGo

[Dexerto @Dexerto]

DuckDuckGo has announced that its browser now blocks most YouTube ads

The devs were "tired of ads interrupting" their videos

Translation: Meta has been secretly tracking millions of Android users’ browsing activity in Chrome and other browsers.

If you use Chrome on Android with any Meta apps installed, you may have been affected.

DuckDuckGo blocks this tracking by default. (1/5)

We just added o3-mini to https://t.co/LEqs8rGY4o (DuckDuckGo's private AI chat service where you can chat with popular models for free). It's pretty great, you should check it out -- no account needed!

[David Harbage @DavidHarbage]

@Chronotope @DuckDuckGo Gotcha, that's more than enough to go off of. There must be something about our UA in Android custom tabs that Google doesn't like.. I'll get this in front of the right people. Appreciate you saying something!

[Jason Kint @jason_kint]

Get this.
So I go on the search engine with 98% of market to re-read views of fixes for its illegal anticompetitive conduct (my query: “DuckDuckGo Google remedies”).
Google leads with AI-generated bullets linking to and sourcing tweets from its lobbyist (Adam K, Chamber of P).

People hate cookie pop-ups. In DuckDuckGo's browsers we automatically select the most private option for you and close them out. More privacy. Less annoyance.

Fantastic piece from my former colleague @megangrA

[David Harbage @DavidHarbage]

@megangrA @aaronpholmes All of the search market share reports are based on visits to websites that come from search engines (they look at referrer), so they totally miss that fewer people click through to other websites when they get the answer to their query directly on the SERP.

[David Harbage @DavidHarbage]

Thrilled to see the FTC taking action on some of the most invasive tracking I've ever seen in an app.

[Peter Dolanjski @pdolanjski]

@thomasgermain @ConsumerReports And yet the GoodRx Android app is currently blasting hundreds of tracking requests to Branch Metrics, AppsFlyer and more after searching for a few prescription drugs. (Stopped by @DuckDuckGo App Tracking Protection)

[DuckDuckGo @DuckDuckGo]

NEW: Have you seen these Google sign-in pop-ups lately? They may seem helpful but signing in actually gives consent to being tracked.

We just released Google Sign-in Pop-up Protection to help block the pop-ups in our apps and extensions.🚀

[Peter Dolanjski @pdolanjski]

DuckDuckGo is looking for early beta testers for our new Windows browser app.

DM me if you'd be willing to test and contribute to shaping the direction of the product.
