@AJamesMcCarthy This is already "a thing". @Slooh have telescopes in the Canary Islands, Australia, & Chile which anyone can get observation time on to target & image any object they're interested in. It's a fantastic project bringing pro astronomy to everyone & well worth getting involved with!

Right now on the sun: A series of sunspots stretch across a highly active region. This shot was captured just a few minutes ago from my backyard.

This grouping is facing Earth right now, so any large CMEs produced by their flares may lead to a spike in aurora activity.

NASA's data & research is peer-reviewed quality science & the models they, & other researchers, ran decades ago are, unfortunately, coming true now, & we're at the scary end of those models

@Mydrryn @astro_jaz You're confusing short-term (days to years) climate drivers like ocean circulation, jet stream etc with long-term climate impacts (decades/centuries) caused by Human-induced climate change, which are 2 different processes

@Mrwashburn1983 @astro_jaz We'll probably still go to the Moon and Mars but this is all about making sure SpaceX does those things, not NASA. Gutting the FAA is for the same reason. Elon thinks they're holding him back with over-regulation.

...That said, SLS costs ~20 times more per launch than Starship

Granted, longer-term observations (so we can view its orbit from different angles) will likely see the chance of impact decrease again, but given the "localised" devastation an airburst would cause, it's definitely worth paying attention to.

Notably there is a high altitude cloud visible past the terminator at the bottom here - still illuminated by the Sun due to the elevation.

I think I've only ever sought it out in defence of other ppl, particularly those who can't defend themselves, but I've never actually had to follow through because the bullies have always backed down when confronted

Although it depends on your heating & daily schedule etc. If you have non-storage electric heating & cook dinner on/in an electric hob/oven/microwave at that time, you can probably save way more than that. It's really aimed at those ppl to avoid gas power stations firing up

@carlos_castillo The problem is most don't believe in vacuums either - I've had numerous conversations with ppl who can't grasp the Earth holding onto an atmosphere (which I guess if you also don't believe in gravity is understandable 😂😂) - so they think vacuum chamber experiments are fake 🤦‍♂️

@Skink101 @Globalfights_ ....but despite me getting bullied relentlessly (predominantly before I had my growth spurt & got the black belt lol), we grew up in different times. We knew the worst it was likely to get was a black eye. Now the pricks all have knives hidden in their pockets

Outside of karate though, I haven't thrown a punch since I was ~13yrs old. Although tbf, that's also when I grew a foot taller than everyone else lol
