@HistoryBoomer J.D. must have read about the salt at the end of the third Punic war and thought the Carthaginians and the Romans signed some nuclear treaty.
@Utah_Sailor@Timodc Trump is actually right on that one (I know). US def was about 235 billion in 2024. Plenty of untruths in the rest of his statement though. So you don't have to 'Stop the Count'.
This is a very fair take. And because it is between brackets I would emphasize, even if it is a joke (and lets say it is), it is kind of unbecoming to make this type of joke about someone right after you got home from his funeral.
Jesuits are always supposed to give people the benefit of the doubt. So even though I find this deeply offensive, I will presume that Mr. Trump meant this light-heartedly (even though he had just recently returned from Pope Francis's Funeral Mass, and he has a Catholic Vice President who met with Francis the day before his death). But imagine the incandescent outrage, the swift condemnation, and the individual and joint protests from the US bishops if this had been done by Joe Biden or Barack Obama.
Regardless of political leaning this is just a terrible poster.
It literally says 'vote reform' twice and never 'vote conservative'.
Sure there is a different message but you got to consider (at least a bit) how human brains actually work. Which is mostly quick and dirty.
Last year, voting Reform meant a huge Labour majority.
Today, voting Reform means Labour councils up and down the country.
Don’t risk your town falling under Labour control. Vote Conservative.
@HarksenNiels@SvensonDuende@mattyglesias Hegel allegedly suffered from the same and also wrote in German. Though this theory is yet to be proven, there is considerable evidence that Hegel used actual language in some of his works.
@literaryeric Looking at it from the EU I say that Trump was broadly unpopular before the second term started. This trade war has (after the NATO trembles) strengthened the narrative that the US cannot (fundamentally) be trusted. This notion has settled quite quickly and Trump cannot fix it.
