@Brandon_Nehl Hello Brandon, I agree, I think this is something that people struggle with the most which is why it is hard to get a job. This unit allows us to see what it takes for us to be able to get a chance to get an interview by creating a solid resumé and cover letter. #RHUB305
I should not only be working on my technical skills only but also my non-technical skills. Such as reading, writing, setting goals, networking, developing a learning mindset, etc., so that I can be a more effective at my workplace. #RHUB305
As a Computer Science major, there can be many types of jobs that I can pursue. The professional development assignment has allowed me to choose which specific job I will be interested in doing. It also made realize that I need to start working outside of school as well. #RHUB305
@Brandon_Nehl Hello Brandon great career choice I believe I saw that as one my upper division courses for computer science. Not only can you mention the courses you have taken related to GIS, but you can put projects you did in that course for your portfolio to better your chances. #RHUB305
The way I am planning on structuring my cover letter for intern job as a SWE is by letting them know which position I am applying to, why I would be a good fit for the company, mention what I have to offer, motivations, and interests. Don’t know much about CL though. #RHUB305
For my resumé I used a MW resumé template and I decided to focus more on relevant work experience since I don’t have any experience in the field I want to get into. I also put the skills that I developed through those jobs, and I put my education as well. #RHUB305
@Erica35394265 Hello Erica, I agree with you it is very stressful to look at your GPA and thinking it may not be good enough. It is a good that they look at different ways in which they will know you are a good fit for grad school. #RHUB305
“Advice for Undergraduates...” was a great reading it had great info about pursuing grad school. One thing that stood out to me is being involved early as an undergrad to start building relationships with professors and doing research to see if it’s a good fit. #RHUB305
After reading the article, “Strategies for Navigating During Covid-19,” I believe that now is an important opportunity to develop the skills needed to land the job we desire because sometimes we only focus on getting good grades. #RHUB305
Hello I was wondering if anyone can peer review my writing portfolio I still need 2. I will also peer review your writing portfolio in return. Thanks in advance😁 #RHUB305
