Republicans are now holding a national midterm convention in Dallas. For a party that keeps insisting Texas isn't competitive, they sure are spending a lot of time and money trying to make sure it stays that way.
@Miriam2626@StephDTownTX@JoshSkolnick_@TXLeftLib From the platform: “Recognize and oppose the genocidal actions and goals of Hamas, as stated in their
founding covenant, and support the removal of Hamas from any governmental
positions and from the ability to utilize armed conflict;”
Is this not denouncing the massacre?
What a loser Hochul is.
During the Championship Playoffs it was announced that Texas ranks #1 for Fortune 500 HQs. A title once held by NY.
Unlike the Knicks title, Texas’s lead over New York in business and new jobs will continue… forever.
@babypingus@LakeShowYo Because if they challenged they could’ve found a proximate offensive foul (because it was) and that would have been Castle’s 6th foul and he would’ve been fouled out
@DavidCookTexas@mayes_middleton Our way of life? Who’s “our”? And what does a nepo baby who’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars mostly because of inherited family assets know about “our” way of life?
@DrFJAD@DRAnnEsq@SophiaBollag@akoseff@ericswalwell I understand that. My point is on the second part of his statement “Isn't that what happened with Trump and Kavanaugh?” My answer: No, that is not what happened with Trump and Kavanaugh. As a country we did not believe the women because we allowed these abusers to rise to power.
@DRAnnEsq@SophiaBollag@akoseff@ericswalwell Yeah the country believed the women so well we made them President and Supreme Court Justice. Your lack of self-awareness is astounding.
@TheMetaCatalyst@prem_thakker I think differences on Israel is a legitimate policy reason to vote for Talarico, but there is a group of Talarico fans that have no policy critiques of Crockett and only hold this suspiciously vague sense of “electability” over her head. Those are the folks I look sideways at.
@TheMetaCatalyst@prem_thakker Sure, we can only go by his record at the Texas Lege (which obviously doesn’t really have much to do with Israel) and what he says. I think it’s unfair to say that we automatically know he would have made the same votes, which is the only path to equating them on this issue.
@TheMetaCatalyst@prem_thakker Yes and he’s 100% wrong on this, but she’s said the exact same thing. The only difference between the two from what I’ve seen is one is for defensive weapons only (still not morally defensible) and the other votes for Israel to have both defensive and offensive weapons.
@TheMetaCatalyst@prem_thakker I think the issue is that in that letter Talarico says he’s against sending offensive weapons to Israel. Crockett recently voted for H.R. 7006 which by my reading (could be wrong) has no defensive weapons limitations, which is a clear difference. I argue not nearly far enough tho
@itsJenRamos@ColinAllredTX@jamestalarico C’mon Jen, regardless of what you feel about him as a politician (not a fan at all either), what Talarico said is completely inappropriate and Allred is justified in being upset.
casual reminder that the Texas gerrymander that set off the whole redistricting war last year was predicated almost entirely on the assumption that the Hispanic shift towards Republicans in 2024 was permanent and could be counted on being more or less replicated every election.
POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE in Tarrant County, Texas, the biggest red county in the country. Democrat Taylor Rehmet beats Republican Leigh Wambsganss in state senate district that Trump carried in 2024 by 17 points. The district hasn’t voted Democratic in half a century.
@RepBrandonGill It's only “not a real holiday” if you just ignore the millions of people around the world who celebrate it. Can't believe this dude is an elected official.
Conservative politicians like @RepBrandonGill are finally saying the quiet (racist) part out loud.
Luckily we have Steven Shook and @ErnestForTexas to replace him in November.
