#Apache#Lucene will soon have a faster and smaller terms index!
This is a complex part of Lucene, and a major hotspot for terms heavy use cases like (primary) key/value store (~34% speedup, but results are preliminary!).
Lucene's pluggable Codec API makes experimentation like this possible.

It's wonderful to see practical & important programming work. Debugging concurrent programs is incredibly difficult, here is a bug found in Apache Lucene by the CMU Pasta Lab using their new Fray testing framework https://t.co/NpnAiWozkH
I am extremely impressed with @TPLINK Deco mesh routers. Most especially the UI administration and UX generally. It’s maybe perfect. My past experiences with Netgear and Linksys were pathetic by comparison.
Operational Advice for Dense and Sparse Retrievers: HNSW, Flat, or Inverted Indexes?
@lintool evaluates tradeoffs between HNSW and flat indexes in dense retrieval, comparing performance, efficiency, and quality across index types and retrieval models.

You know, for weekend reads and fiddling 😅 As always, feedback is welcome!
@gsingers Wow, congratulations! I can’t imagine yet what that will be like. Maybe I’m kidding myself but I don’t remember diaper changes being the worst. Perhaps just constantly having some sense of duty to look after them.

@jbaiter_ I would argue replicas don’t need an ID. It’s just a pair of shard ID and node ID. Said differently, it’s merely an instance of the shard on a node.

Highlights:
- Bug fix for pagination on MatchAllDocs

Here's a great example of how our client work sometimes leads to major improvements in #opensource search - OSC's @compuwizard123 has contributed a fix to a #Solr performance issue around cached filter queries https://t.co/slRW9hBKLT .... [1/..]
@AAnakhe@outreachy@ApacheSolr Thanks for your contribution to Solr :-). I’m also grateful for @jeg90 and others in the community that are really helping out with new contributors.
