Plastic Surgeon. Previously Chair Board of Trustees of Hunterian Collection, President BAPRAS & Vice President Royal College of Surgeons of England. Own views.
Very sad news. Ian did sterling work to ease difficulties between the specialties of plastics and OMFS, and gave very sensible and pragmatic opinions on RCSEng council. A great loss to surgery-in-general. RIP Ian.
Shocked to hear this very sad news. Ian was a loyal supporter and gave great service to his specialty of OMFS and the College. He will be hugely missed.
Blown away by the newly open Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London
It’s well worth a visit & will appeal to medical colleagues and the general public
So many surgery, anatomy, pathology and otter amazing specimens.
Top class!!
Almost 300 years after his birth, how appropriate to have the man himself John Hunter keeping a careful eye as we celebrate the reopening of the jewel in the @RCSnews crown, the @HunterianLondon. Open to the public on 16 May…and it’s an absolute gem!
@RCSnews@TMitchellFRCS@mortensen_neil Many congratulations Tim. A great tribute to what you have done for surgery already, and very encouraging for the future.
@mortensen_neil Such sad news. It was a great honour to have worked with her as one of her VPs. She was a lovely 'boss', a great leader, and had so much more to give to surgery and to medicine as a whole.
This is a must-read piece by @mancunianmedic on @bmj_latest discussing his experience during COVID and walking away from his time as @RCPhysicians President
And a letter from the CMOs and other national leaders has gone to Trusts asking them to give leave for national training work, specifically mentioning exams. So hopefully professional leave will be easier to get.

Many examiners step down this year and next, so please consider applying. Your contribution to training our future surgeons will be invaluable, and being part of the Court is very enjoyable as well.

An amazing occasion and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the amazing #WomenInSurgery we have at RCS England.
Thank you to Dame Clare Marx for continuing to advocate for our profession and for the College.
My boss in the 1980s allowed me a Wednesday off to get married providing I was at his list the next day! I did both, and no regrets - what he taught me surgically made all the strictures of that time worthwhile.
@ShafiAhmed5@MrTimLane@ZGJR@juliomayol@SWexner@svig2@ASiTofficial I worked for a prof in 1980 who had grand round meetings every Saturday which u had to attend, whether on holiday or not! There was no shortage of creepy “type As” happy to comply for the prestige. When he retired they were all moved out by the new guy! 😟
Terrible. Graeme is one of the really good guys, and has done so much for his patients, and for the specialty locally, nationally and internationally. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery, and my thoughts for his family.
Statement: We are shocked and appalled by the unwarranted and brutal attack on one of our colleagues and Past Presidents, Graeme Perks, in his own home
