A gorgeous Buff-breasted Sandpiper on the machair north of the airport today. A long-overdue and extremely welcome first for Barra. Thanks and congratulations to the finders Richard Doan and David Wright.
@samgod96@LWTWildNews When I was working on the Solway in spring, quite a few leucistic birds were present say 2/3 per 2000. Colour variations seem quite regular in this species.
Absolutely stunning SMEW found by David Wright first thing this morning makes its way onto my life list, with three other new birds for my Gib list taking me to 111 since last Tuesday. Watch out @Richard_Doan_ 👀 @LWTWildNews
One of four Shore Larks at Gibraltar Point this morning, my first for 15 years I think. Backed up by Snow Buntings, Twite and Long-tailed Duck. Well worth the hike south from breezy Skeg! @Lincsbirding@LWTWildNews
A trip to the north side of the Llyn today, a bit off my usual patch. Some visits to Porth Ysgaden in late September revealed its potential. I was glad to return today for a memorable seawatch. The aftermath of Storm Debi!
@Little_tern19 @Natures_Voice @ATChesil I'm sure it does help. When I was in this project I hadn't previously realised there were so many different types of sand! Good luck.
This Green-winged Teal was a great find today, amongst hundreds of Teal. Also booming Bittern, GW Egret, 5 Marsh Harriers, 4 Whoopers, 2 Water Pipit, 2 Chiffchaff at Cors Ddyga @AngBirdNews
It was good to find this female Ring-necked Duck at Llyn Cefni this morning, distantly! I think it might be the first I've seen since one at the 'new' Conwy RSPB in the late 80s/early 90s I twitched in my lunch hour from a layby!
