Research Scientist @InfoUMA #space#robotics lab. Founder @hermes_multibot. Postoc @EPFL_en, PhD in Robotics @tohoku_univ. Unsure about 2/3s of my own opinions.
Explorer-1 (EX1), the rover I designed and co-developed during the last phase of my PhD at @TohokuUniPR has been featured by @NHKNews_RBX (Japanese only). Congrats to @uKenkempa, Kazuya Yoshida, and the rest of the team at the Space Robotics Laboratory!

The dataset includes images recorded from mono and stereo cameras, wheel odometry, imu data, and the raw frames recorded with a SPAD camera. Images were captured under multiple illumination scenarios, from lunar dawn to nighttime, w/ and w/o the aid of headlights. Check it out!
If you're working on improved algorithms for robot navigation in some of the most challenging visual environments and if you're especially interested in testing new approaches on high-latitudes lunar-like data, check our latest dataset release: SPICE-HL3.
In case you're interested in learning more about this project and happen to be attending the @SSSIForum , I will be speaking about this new activity with @esa and Sirin tomorrow, Thursday Feb 19, at 12:00 in the Mena Hall

Here is a quick outline of what I cover:
1. Context
2. A lesson learned (the hard way)
3. The value of EPFL for research
4. The challenges of a postdoc at EPFL
5. My ultimate recommendation

That moment when your initial (relatively uninformed) hypothesis still holds after +50h of ploughing through the published literature...but you know mt stupid has a hidden summit
For anyone interested, I've been reading about visual localization using low-dimensionality data and so far the most insightful read has been (unsurprisingly) @maththrills ' work on SeqSLAM 💯!
