One of Brisbane's most impressive recruitment success stories is writing its next chapter, and they need an exceptional Accounting and Finance recruitment leader to help define it.
The Opportunity
This is a brand-new investment headcount for a National Recruitment Manager. You'll be joining at the perfect inflection point.
A boutique firm that's growing rapidly while maintaining the culture, profitability, and operational excellence that larger competitors have sacrificed along the way.
This isn't about inheriting someone else's desk. This is about shaping strategy, building capability, and proving what's possible when talent meets genuine opportunity.

The question matters because:
Every Recruitment & Executive Search leadership hire has a hidden story.
Someone left. Someone was fired. Someone retired.
The market shifted. A strategy failed.
Your job? Inherit that story.
@DeanJamesSearch
Everyone's fighting for the same 5% of "active" candidates.
Nobody's recruiting the 95% who aren't looking.
This is why great companies stay average.
Here's what elite executive search actually looks like:
@DeanJamesSearch core principals & methodology
You don’t have a talent shortage problem.
You have a positioning problem.
The best candidates aren’t on job boards.
They’re already employed and waiting for someone with the pull factor to make them move.
Scroll LinkedIn lately?
Every other post is a company beaming with team photos. Smiling faces, 'best place to work', coffee runs, and my all-time fav 'we're family' captions.
I know the difficulty of managing a large team of 100+ recruiters and keeping everyone happy.
But, I also know the truth: Many of those 'amazing' cultures are full of miserable people behind the curtain.
I'm 21 years deep into my recruitment career, and I've seen the pattern too often.
Selfie team shots hiding sky-high turnover.
Agencies bragging about 'culture' while in reality their best people are burnt out and leaving in droves.
'Open door' policies that are anything but.
Posts masking a toxic environment: Forced smiles, endless 'hustle' praise, but zero real support.
Especially when leadership makes their latest knee-jerk decision or the market dips.
It's not just annoying, it's dangerous for your career.
The 2026 shift?
Authenticity wins. The people I speak to every day crave a real high-performance culture over fake selfies.
If you are sitting in one of these firms, watching the fake positivity roll out, drop me a DM about making your move.

Switching to Retained Recruitment: From Chaos to Control
Ever felt like you're chasing your tail constantly in contingent recruitment?
Endless CV sends, no client commitment, and deals falling through at the last minute....
March to June last year was my breaking point for contingent recruitment.
I had three massive deals; if they come off, I am flying. If they don't, well, at the time, I didn't want to even contemplate that.
In a 10-day period, all three collapsed for the most ridiculous reasons.
Absolutely brutal run.
It was the wake-up call that pushed me to pivot and rebrand as Dean James Search, and move to a fully retained model.
Suddenly, searches became partnerships, not races.
The shift wasn't easy, but it has transformed my business.
Retained recruitment builds trust, provides financial stability, and prioritises quality over quantity.
Here's how you can make the switch smoothly:
Audit your current model: Compare the time wasted on non-committed clients with the time spent on searches you closed. If it's above 50%, it's time to evolve.
Define and master your delivery model: Sit down and document your retained process. Include end-to-end steps, timelines, and how you will be transparent and accountable.
Turn it into a sharp pitch deck. Refine it relentlessly, practice presenting it until you're winning 100% of your pitches.
My last five pitches have ended with the clients asking how quickly we can start.
Showcase the retained value: Use a platform like Thrive TRM.
Here, they can see search progress in real time, watch the process unfold, and view research data. Transparency is key.
Pivoting to this has snowballed.
Elite clients with key roles who are tired of the old way and looking for real results through a true partnership have been walking through the door.
If you're tired of the contingent grind, let's chat. DM me for a quick strategy session on making the move to retained.
