Reminder that one PC government staffer (Mitch Maltby) retweeted a Nazi post & another (Stephen Moore) wrote an article defending the use of swastikas & partied with alt-right anti-trans bigots.
Both are employed by the Province of Nova Scotia. We pay their salaries. -ND
Novel to see #cdnchildcare initiative cited as an example to follow (while recognizing system-growing pains). Keeping in mind that Canada's privatized market-model childcare was always at the bottom of international rankings - we're not going back, folks! https://t.co/w4oQB4n4uk
I support Halifax Public Library Workers. Libraries have a vital role in our communities.Far more than books, they provide essential services, often for the most excluded. We spend more on police than all our recreational services combined. Pay library workers what they’re worth!
Encampments DO pose a threat to public safety as those staying in tents are part of the public & living outside is unsafe. This attempt to dehumanize community members living w/out housing, food security, health care etc. is infuriating. We will have more to say on this #halifax
@BigJMcC@MornaBallantyne@globeandmail Fair does not mean equal.
No one is telling for profit centre's to close - just not expand. They say they are not making any money, so why not take on the non-profit model. Is it about supporting families and children, especially woman? I wonder.
One participant at our "who should own child care?" https://t.co/7ZTImXEXz9 symposium described expansion of for-profit childcare as "short-term gain for long-term pain". Right call for Ottawa - better to build it right, evidence-based https://t.co/ohZ4INYDwm #cdnchildcare

If you've seen media coverage of Fraser Institute's most recent critique of the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care program, read this excellent evidence-based rebuttal by @gordcleveland https://t.co/C3KZaibs3E
@BigJMcC There are many publicly owned buildings that could be used outside of schools, as well.
Health care centres, government offices etc should have this as a potential use before construction even begins. Take the profit out of childcare in every sense.
Child care today: “We’re still stuck in a transition state between the old, failed market-based system and the new public system,” said Swanson.

Why is public funding supporting this kind of risky, greedy, deceptive operation - putting children at risk and making preposterous claims to deceive parents? For good reason, #cdnchildcare advocates have argued "kids are not for profit" for 50 years @Child_Care_Now@ChildCareON
