@sck8182@AlexCarrMLB Teams mess up all the time. Eric Hartman was taken in round 20 last year and is a top 30 overall prospect on a lot of lists already
@TheLibertyYell Every part of my heart wants to believe all these reasons why they won’t… he doesn’t want to play there, this will ruin their rebuild, they won’t be able to sign their other RFAs… etc. I just don’t believe those things would prevent a reasonable person from locking up a 21yo 1C
@dsilver88 It would be nonsensical to ignore 15 if you knew 18 was coming unless you weren’t willing to pay 15 or 18. Therefore, I have to presume that the Ducks didn’t believe 18 was out there or even possible. They’ll match, begrudgingly, but this was a total & bad misread on their part.
@JohnStolnis They could swap him and Stott and probably upgrade, but lots of variables here… Aidan Miller… how does Crawford finish (because CF is certainly an option for Trea)
@isureppin12@Andrew_FBB He threw 86 pitches his last start (his second since returning faster than expected from the IL)… so 92 is a pretty normal ramp up in a game that you were leading 8-0.
@anacalling_fhf As you can imagine if the shoe were on the other foot, Flyers fans are overly excited. Most of us still expect the match to happen, but the pressure wasn’t always about whether the cap space was there to match, it was as much about what it meant for the roster, esp the defense.
@TFaehner2@BroadStHockey Whatever makes you happy man. I lived through the Weber waiting period. Everyone convinced themselves that the Preds couldn’t match. Here we are again.
@JoyOnBroad I am still very confident they match… BUT if they were to choose not to for whatever reason, I suspect they approach the Flyers for more immediate assets. That is, they want to swap out the 2029/30 picks for either young players and/or Toronto’s 1st.
@USA_Polling I don’t support violence, but obviously the widening wealth gap is very much becoming a “let them eat cake” moment. The ultra-rich really need to understand how this has ended historically.
@B_Sommermann Is there really any reason for them to rush into it? Flyers are sticking it to them… not much incentive to let the Flyers move onto other plans with any expediency.
@jonah_fleisher Could they attempt to negotiate with the Flyers before matching? For example, taking the 4 Flyers picks + the Toronto 1st which is likely to be earlier or perhaps saying Toronto’s 1st, Michkov and next 2 Flyers 1sts? The Flyers might just say no, but shouldn’t they at least see?
We have tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim center Leo Carlsson. The offer is a five-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $18M, which would require four of the Flyers first-round draft picks in each of the next four seasons as compensation. https://t.co/nfhD4h6nEc
