We’re not known as a nation
For hauling up our flag
It flutters from some buildings
More often? In its bag
By contrast in the past few days
It clothes the best and worst
Draped around olympians
And those in mayhem versed
I’ve said “good for the garden” and “nice weather for ducks” far too many times this month. It’s getting silly. In actual fact my garden is flooded and even the ducks look like they’ve had enough.
Anyway, I look forward to complaining about it being too hot and dry this summer.
When a Brit says “that’s a shame” you know one of three things has happened:
1. They’ve just been told someone else’s bad news and they’re trying to sound sympathetic (and they might actually be quite glad about it)
2. They’ve just experienced very minor disappointment.
3. They’ve just lost everything and their life is ruined.
The River Wey has burst it's banks at the entrance to Millmead Car Park between The White House Pub and Westnye play area. Currently, you can still pass by car or on foot but take care as the river is running fast. If your vehicle is parked at the car park you may want to move it
