I was in a convoy in Fallujah when an IED exploded directly into my Humvee. I was hit with shrapnel in the leg and shoulder, shrapnel I still carry with me to this day.
I earned a Purple Heart that day. But more importantly, I learned a lot about service and sacrifice.
Thereโs a real cost to war, beyond the dollars and cents. Itโs about our true treasure: The troops put in harmโs way.
On Purple Heart Day, I want to thank all the brave service members who dedicated โ and sacrificed โ their lives in service to our country. I continue my services to protect the freedoms we all fought for.
