When Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens kidnapped and murdered Sarah Everard, Nigel Farage released a five-minute video urging people not to attack men or the police.
Today, in response to the murder of Henry Nowak, he called for "pure cold rage."
@thecarolemalone You wouldn't know how draining it can be to do a difficult job. All you've ever done is use your rancid mouth to pour out the filth that's in your nasty little mind. You're like a sewage spill on humanity.
@labourlewis Not necessary. Your party has a massive majority and can push through electoral reform. Labour will be obliterated next time under FPTP and we'll have a Reform govt that will never bring in PR. Stop being such a bunch of cowards and do what's right for the country.
@earthygirl011 I don't think the 'split the vote' threat works anyway because Burnham is going to win by some margin. It's a unique by-election. People from all political directions want to kick Starmer out and constituents will be delighted to grab the power to install a new PM.
@earthygirl011@TheGreenParty Greens should stand because Burnham isn't offering a PR deal. But to avoid unnecessary dejection, people need to know the Greens won't win. But it's still a campaigning opportunity to get attention to the key issues, including electoral reform, and to put pressure on Burnham.
@PhilipProudfoot It is impossible. I don't think it's helpful to lead people to think it can be done because they'll be deflated by the loss. Burnham is going to take it easily, despite not offering any real change. People want Starmer gone and he's going to mop up the anti-Starmer vote.
@RocketsHarrison@getprdone@PhilipProudfoot@AndyBurnhamGM It doesn't need to be in a manifesto and it doesn't need a referendum. He's just making an excuse for himself. He thinks he can save Labour and he's wrong and that error will deliver us a Reform government in 2029.
@RobbieScowlz@labourlewis@mainstreamlbr He's already said he will NOT deliver electoral reform in this parliament. He says it needs a GE manifesto and a referendum, neither of which are true. He thinks he's going to save Labour and his ego will give us a Reform govt
@getprdone@PhilipProudfoot@AndyBurnhamGM We'll have a Reform government by then. What a fool to squander that majority and the chance to push through electoral reform
@earthygirl011 If he offers a promise on PR, the Greens would have to be deranged to turn it down. Yes, he might not deliver but you're not there to act like Mystic Meg. You take the promise, publicise it and campaign on PR.
@Catniptwoshoes Is this based on an assumption that he would not deliver PR even if he promised it? Because one Westminster seat is obviously invisibly small as an outcome, in comparison to getting PR.
@ThaRubyPrincess@gaoblai Yes, lots of us do other forms of action. There is not one singular way. But PR is going to be useful along the way, and maybe you'll even find it useful in your future scenarios.
@ThaRubyPrincess@gaoblai Right, so you're of that mindset. I think the fight is now, not in some theoretical future when the resistance finally comes together, when people have suffered enough We can get PR now if there is a focus on it. And it is worth having
@ThaRubyPrincess@gaoblai Burnham isn't going to change anything. Except PR. We're not going to get another chance. If we don't get PR now, we get a Reform minority government in 2029. Some people do want that as they fondly dream that it will cause the working class to rise up.
