@Rob_WCFC Some sort of supply and demand system. If there's a local bus that supplies a similar service for example then thats competition. On routes with limited options to challenge the train they hold a monopoly. I also think electrification has something to do with it.
@micky_cosgrave@TLRailUK You wouldn't moan at the halftime hotdog stand if Man United were losing. Why moan at an operator if the infrastructure isnt available to them. Go at Network Rail if you absolutely have to say something and come back when GTR actually have an issue that is their fault π€·ββοΈ
@Russats_LFC@Clinnick1@GBRailfreight Correct, the 99 does all the pulling power. The 66 *might* be running idle to keep the fuel and oil pumps happy but I dont think they have that issue
@micky_cosgrave@TLRailUK Cheers buddy good rant. Southern is part of the GTR family (Great Northern, Southern, Thameslink and GX). And can't really blame a train operator for infrastructure damage. Train crew I understand that's a fair cop, not OHLE though.
Some of the online response to the incident at Elstow last week has been absolutely disgusting. Too many people on here with way too many opinions and way too little clue on anything they are tapping away about. If you wanna make your own story, 1st read the RAIB report.

@nationalrailenq Im happy to be corrected, but the info I have shows the 11:00 service was the last time the train reported a timing point (Realtime Trains). So if I'm wrong then fair play on this case but my point stands for the general delay in the industry information.
@Russats_LFC@Clinnick1@GBRailfreight 66 behind is insurance incase anything breaks because the 99 is still officially under testing. Saves blocking a mainline for hours waiting a rescue
@Heidi_Labour Not the time to push your publicity tat. Stay off the air and let the professionals do their work. When the dust settles you know-it-alls can say your piece, we can all ignore you, and go on with our lives
@Richarmphotos@greateranglia Buses used to always get held up in central Cambridge so all the operators pulled out of there unless strictly needed or early AM/late PM. CMB allows faster road access to the A14 and A10 too
