I feel amazing the last few days. As good as Iโve felt in years. But it wasnโt that way for most of the last month. You can hide a lot online and in real life and thatโs what this post is aboutโฆ
I had pressure from Bambi dying, the 5 dogs traveling like Whacker and Rodney, little Bailey dying at the land, Tina and Snoop being very Ill and all the various dog issues.
There was also reading my audio book which was exceptionally tough mentally. Talking about previous dogs and my battles with addiction in a studio with 3 people listening was a lot harder than I expected.
I lost a few days to depression in bed. I checked into my hotel in Bangkok and there were full bottles of wine and a minibar all laid out. The pressure at that time was immense from all angles. The easy option would have been to close the curtains, make excuses and open them. I thought it through for about 30 seconds then laughed at the bottles and gave them the middle finger and swore at them. โUr not getting me this timeโ.
I just wanted to say that I may look like I have it perfect. Helping dogs. Massive online support with endless positive comments. A book being published. Media. Living in paradise. Etc. Thatโs just the stuff on the surface. Many who struggle have similar things to hide behindโฆa high paying job, a BMW, fancy holidays, lots of social media followers, the fittest person physically, the most fun person at the party. etc.
What Iโm saying is that itโs ok to not be ok. To not always have your shit together and to be battling. No matter how good things look to others around you. Itโs ok to feel battered by life and take care of yourself. Thatโs what I had to do.
I was sleeping for 3 hours with depression in the daytime and I had severe anxiety. My heart had a pain I never experienced before when I thought Snoop was dying. In those times and when doing an hour of deep breathing to calm down on the plane all I could think aboutโฆ
1. The individual dogs faces and their new lives.
2. The people who support me daily in a million ways including messages and nice comments.
Im back on top of the world now and feeling amazing helping dogs on the ground. Look after yourself too ๐ฅฐ๐
