Remember the students learn in the environment in which the teacher works. A teacher who is supported, encouraged and appreciated will create a more positive and dynamic learning environment than a teacher who is exhausted, frustrated and burned out.

Teachers should not have to work well beyond contracted hours (unpaid) just to get things done. Then we wonder why there is a 50% attrition every 5 years. This year will be off the charts if we don’t change expectations. We need state and district leaders to step up for teachers.

Teacher retention: if you want to keep the best teachers, treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals.

1) feel safe / supported
2) emotional connection/ relationships
3) feel respected
4) attention/ appreciation

6) Volition/ autonomy
7) innovation/ creativity
8) self care

For the people hating on teachers, Doctors & nurses are trained to deal with viruses & provided adequate resources. Athletes can opt out even though provided a Bubble & more than adequate resources. Teachers show up w/ no bubble, training to deal w/ virus or adequate resources.
