@claudeai can do real MCP + localhost workflows… but it’s priced like research is only for rich students.
@ChatGPTapp has the funding of a small country, yet can’t handle basic MCP infra.
DeepSeek? Too small to even enter the fight.
So… where are students supposed to go?

If you want real local system integration, you need a desktop-style MCP runtime, not a remote tunnel hack.
@OpenAI is powerful, but MCP feels gated.
@claudeai feels better and boring wins in infra. 😅
price for the students. $ 239 bro in India +20k , 90% budget.

ChatGPT MCP + remote setup (WSL + ngrok) =
- handshake works
- follow-up tool calls don’t
- multi-step local orchestration
Meanwhile Claude happily consumes a local JSON config and executes everything in one flow.
Developer experience matters.

I moved from @claudeai → @OpenAI thinking “better models, better tooling.”
Turns out:
Claude handles local/desktop MCP configs cleanly

@OpenAI MCP feels half-locked unless you’re inside their blessed environment

Spent ~12 hours trying to wire a custom MCP server with ChatGPT only to realize:
ChatGPT only calls one endpoint at a time and won’t orchestrate multi-endpoint workflows remotely (ngrok, WSL, etc).
Claude? Just works with local configs.
Painful difference. 🫠
