A call to action from the Evangelical Lutheran pastor in Ramallah about the growing, violent settler attacks on Palestinian villages which continue with impunity. ‘I do not want to share statistics, he says, ‘I am tired of numbers. We're not numbers. We're not headlines. We're talking about mothers, fathers, children, grandparents — with names, with stories, with futures that are being cut short’
Revive an old Scotland, Eva! As a candidate for the oldest territorial state in Europe, the oldest flag, the most stable borders, 150 years older than England (they have always hated that), we have nearly 1200 years of history as a state respected througout Europe and recognised by the Vatican, the UN of the day.
Take our constitution in the shape of the Claim of Right. It contains amazing human rights provisions, precursors of and inspiration for the American constitution. Ignore such an important document? No, it states our sovereignty for one thing! Build on it, with modern-day amendments. Assemble a modern direct democracy that reflects our Community of the Realm, which looks so unlike the Anglo-Norman top down autocratic DNA expressed by Thatcherism, now operating on steroids and which our people, for good historic reasons, reject.
Commonweal, who do some great work, produced an admirable volume called "How To Start a New Country". But, that title? It's an astonishing lacuna - we have an old country held in aspic for 300 years by annexation and colonialism. Akin to the Baltic States on leaving the USSR, release from the colonial grip of England revives, reinstates, re-activates our ancient state. Then we can build all the 'new' we want, but we have the building blocks already in popular sovereignty, a Crown that is not a monarch, like any European crown you care to look at, but is us, the people of Scotland, the Community of the Realm; something - the kind of thing in fact we Scots do, as you mention in the context of your dad, without thinking - entirely unique.
Scotland, the Community of the Realm and the Claim of Right is reminiscent of the story from the Arabian Nights of Aladdin and his magic lamp. "New lamps for old", cried the sorcerer, and Aladdin's wife decides she'd like a new lamp, turning over the ancient magic lamp for a piece of cheap shiny brass. We have an ancient magic lamp, and we must guard it with our lives.
Bloke wins a by-election somewhere near Wigan and denies the legitimacy of the 73-56 pro-Independence Holyrood majority as voted for by 2.3million Scots. And they wonder why there is growing disillusionment with politics.
And here’s another ‘teaching opportunity’!
It is precisely because what these Acts ratified was never given effect, that all that pompous rhetoric about the Union is evidence of colonisation.
Let’s start with one fundamental fact: a kingdom is the territorial jurisdiction of a crown. A ‘single kingdom’ requires a single crown. Instead of creating a single crown/kingdom, the English coronation oath was ‘extended’ to Scotland meaning that Scotland was made a dominion of the English, not part of the single kingdom of a merged ‘British’ crown. (The gobbledegook rubbish mumbled as a Scottish Oath of Accession by every English monarch from George I on, was invented to give a veneer of legitimacy to the pantomime of legitimate accession as Scottish monarch. The real Scottish Oath is still an ignored but legal requirement and still on the statute books.)
The Scottish Crown and thus the Scottish kingdom continues as a legal entity, its assets and resources managed by the annexing, English Crown to this day.
Now, the English Crown can only summon the English Parliament which. as even Boris Johnson has proudly stated, continues as its always did, exactly like the English Crown.
No single crown, no single kingdom, no new joint parliament under that single crown = no operative treaty but, instead, unlawful annexation of a fully developed, sovereign and independent European state under the pretext of a treaty England forced onto Scotland purely in order to dismantle that state and take control of Scotland. Which it did.
These days it’s desperately peddling its voluntary partnership fairy tale through all its captured mouthpieces while trying to block every channel that might provide a platform for a rehearsal of the case of the annexed state of Scotland. Despite this we are exposing the unambiguous evidence of all I have said here - and more - to a fascinated, convinced and growing number of international governments, lawyers and bodies. Liberation approaches.
(I realise that none of this ‘feels’ true or possible for unionists. But that’s because charter myths have enormous power - that’s their function true or (mostly) false, to create a strong sense of identity, to legitimise a system or it’s government and so anchor national or territorial loyalty onto a sense of being and belonging. ‘Unionism’ is no different. It is however based on a card house of lies and crimes,)
@larabirdsnp@ChristineCair15@theSNP You’re a breath of fresh air Lara! Please embrace the movement across the board and recharge the momentum for Yes. We need to look at a broader spectrum for constitutional change. Another referendum will never come. It’s a waste of time and energy.
SCOTLAND'S COLONIAL NEWSPAPERS
Sarwar's failure upwards is ignored by most of the Anglo-centric broadsheets, but it's an event that has stunned Scots for being nothing less than a gross insult to Scotland from Hotairman Burnham. The National rightly makes it front page news. In broad daylight, Sarwar's promotion shows us perfectly Westminster's colonial power. 😐 The exception is the Colonial Times. It points out even Sarwar's colleagues are stunned. 😐 Also the paper keeps the stramash of Amnesty International's faux pas tackling JK Rowling-Innit via the argument that gender critical feminists are "anti-rights". Amnesty is now back-tracking. 😐 The paper reports SNP scoffing at the new PM's penny-pinching energy cut. Radical it aint, not a good sign from a man selling himself as anti-establishment and yet elevates House Jock Sarwar. 😐 Judging by pronouncements so far, Hotairman is proving to be nothing more than Starmer but with a cosy cloth cap Mancunian accent: "Av bin ti Book-in-hum Pa-lace t'day..." Ooo, lucky you. An' did t'King give a fook?
🎥 WATCH: “Not a prosthetic limb in Gaza… Let us leave and travel abroad for treatment. Have mercy on us.”
Wounded Palestinians gathered to plead for medical evacuation, amid Israel’s ongoing ban on the entry of prosthetics and severe restrictions on specialized medical care into Gaza.
Israel is simultaneously preventing most of the 18,000 patients on pre-approved WHO lists from leaving for treatment abroad.
Israel, which under the 2025 ceasefire agreement Israel was supposed to reopen the Rafah crossing for the movement of all civilian passengers, including medical evacuations, only allows a handful of people to cross daily.
The crossing remained closed on Saturday. Gaza health officials say more than 1,500 patients have died while waiting to be evacuated for treatment. About 10 patients die each day.

Mrs Sarah Wilkinson @swilkinsonbc is a 63 year old journalist that has been documenting the Gaza genocide from early on.
The UK Govt is charging her with terrorism crimes for simply posting the news out of Gaza, in an effort to silence her.

The measure of Andy Burnham’s premiership:
•Ban sales of arms to 🇮🇱 now
•Trade sanctions against 🇮🇱 now
•Ban 🇮🇱 money from 🇬🇧 politics now
Anything less is to be complicit.

We raised the issue yesterday in light of the abuse received by the @theSNP 's @larabirdsnp
Is the oath system outdated in a 21st century democracy?
Ms. Bird was elected by her constituents in a democratic excercise at the ballot box, why therefore is she obliged to swear allegance to an unelected hereditary head of state? The ruling must be challenged by MPs.
This is misleading framing by the BBC.
Completely omitting from the headline that the synagogue hosted an event that was encouraging and facilitating Palestinian land theft.
Instead it’s worded as though a place of worship itself was the target.
@80_mcswan In 2003 the then Israeli ambassador declared that coming to Scotland was to enter a hostile environment for Israelis. Interference began then if not before.
"A Swiss court has acquitted five Palestine solidarity activists, annulled their fines, recognised the reality of genocide in Palestine, and affirmed that peaceful civil disobedience is protected by freedom of expression."
Please RT this until the UK courts do the same.
Thanks.
The ‘Great Israeli Real Estate Event’ is to be held in London this Sunday.
This disgraceful event will involve the sale of land stolen from Palestinians in illegal Israeli settlements.
Today, I called for the Government to ban this event.
I just heard the @BBC radio say that the Israeli army was attacking Hezbollah targets yesterday & they also platformed someone bloviating about how Iran is ‘occupying’ Lebanon.
As a frontline journalist on the ground for the last 18 months, I would like to reiterate that I have not see any Iranian occupation bases in Lebanon. I have not seen any children killed here by Iranian bombs. I haven’t seen the IRGC massacring entire families on a daily basis. The IRGC has not shot at me or killed dozens of my colleagues in targeted attacks. Iran has not been systematically murdering healthcare workers (over 130) in Lebanon.
Israel has violently invaded and occupied Lebanon. The flag flying over the base in Al Khiam is an Israeli flag, not an Iranian flag. (Photo below)
The Lebanese Ministry of Health yesterday reported that 3,613 civilians have been killed and 11,072 have been wounded in Israeli attacks since March 2nd.
