First days at the Inflammation Research Center of the VIB/UGent, thanks to the #Rubicon grant of @ZonMw!
Starting on a new chapter of EV-virus research in the @Vdb_lab
Scientists should always strive to talk to as diverse an audience as possible, and that's what made the meeting of COST-action network @exrnapath so great. People working on plants, fungi, mammals, & more, coming together for their shared love of exRNA. Recognize yourself? Join!
As a former PhD student of Esther working on the field of #EV-virus interactions, I cannot stress enough what a great opportunity this is. Best of luck to all the applicants ๐
Are you interested in #ExtracellularVesicles and antiviral immune responses? We are recruiting a #PhD candidate to participate in our enthusiastic team of EV researchers! PM me or check the ad on LinkedIn.
Very honoured to win one of this years oral presentation awards! Great to see that the #NLSEV is a community so open to sharing novel unpublished data and ideas. Let's keep it up and spread the love for research at the interface between EVs and #virology๐.
We had to wait till the first photos were in, but now we can show and congratulate (again) the #NLSEV2022 award winners: @simon4189 and @JMMKocken won the prizes for best poster, and @DefournyKyra and Omnia Elsharkasy for best oral presentation!
Great to see our paper on how a nonstructural viral protein can enable the release of extracellular vesicle-enclosed EMCV published!
Many thanks to all our co-authors๐
Stay tuned for more work coming on different viral & host factors that can affect EV-enclosed virus release
Our latest work describing how viral and host factors can enable release of extracellular vesicle-enclosed EMCV is now published @NatureComms! This was a great collaboration with the group of @EstherNolteHoen.
You can check out the paper here ๐

After presenting sneak previews at several conferences, we are happy that our latest manuscript can now be found online and in full as prepint!

9/ This is important because a virus enclosed within an EV can have very different properties than its naked counterpart! This extra layer of host-derived membrane can affect cellular uptake, biodistribution, infection efficiency, and escape from the immune system. ๐ก๏ธ๐ฉธ
Great and exciting talks on day 1 of #ISEVID! Tomorrow it is my turn to kick off the meeting, presenting about the release of #EVenclosedPicornaviruses. Nervous and excited because the bar is set high, as it should be.
