With Whitehall in shambles, we should adopt a system similar to what they have in Switzerland and their Cantons, allowing power to move upwards from the bottom.
Yorkshire needs a new style of government. One where everyday people are involved at all stages of the governance process: from bringing forward initial proposals to making the final decisions, from policy implementation to follow-up monitoring & evaluation for effectiveness.

Congratulations to David Tully, the independent candidate for coming second in yesterday's Rochdale by-election, beating the main political parties by a mile by sticking to local issues. We need more people like you to stand for public office.
The Prime Minister set Monday's Cabinet meeting in Goole to discuss his plans to redistribute funding from the abandoned HS2. All I could hear afterwards was a sigh from people who had listened to the same promises before.

Stakeholders do deserve proper consideration. This can be one of the advantages of cooperative enterprises. UBI not only offers hope but it could provide a real safety net which can be so valuable in time of need.
The current economic system focuses too much on investors as opposed to stakeholders which also include employees, customers, and the communities in which businesses operate. All stakeholders deserve proper consideration. Prosperity should be a by-product of business not poverty
Labour appears to be positioning itself to lose the next election. We need Labour to return to the progressive fold. In terms of reform, we need fair votes; devolution on the basis of subsidiarity; and an end to our adversarial political system.
